Guys, this is a copy of my post on "that other site", and a summary/my thoughts

Remember, this is not a small update, its a complete overhaul of the graphics engine, / a new graphics engine really ! Horseshoe Curve is still the only route to take full advantage of the new graphics engine. Ofcourse there are gonna be issues with the release. Its sad to hear alot of you are having problems, it really is, because TSX really shines within the simulation. RSC is one heck of a company in my book.

Ofcourse RSC wants our money, they have to eat right ? They own a company ( run by railfans ) and they want our money to develop DLC and continue to improve the sim, i cannot find the negative here guys.. I will gladly give them my money when a new DLC is released, it gives me something, and it gives them the reason to continue pumping out great addons, and updating the sim. Again, i can understand its frustrating when the sim doesnt work / start or whatever, but give it another go, have just a little patience, and RSC will come through.

I sure hope the ones that are having problems will get the sim up and running, because TSX used with the Horseshoe Curve route, well guys, its downright gorgeus ! **!!bow!!**

As a final thought, what else is there?

MTS, been using it for 10 years, done. ( see my join date "on that other site" if you dont believe me, username tmaxim )
Trainz, do not want to light the fire, no comment
BVE no thank you,
Cascade game foundry, still to early to tell
Open rails, looks promising
Railworks, a company run by railroad enthusiasts, in contact with the users of their products daily, improving what is already available.

All the guys not having problems are having a blast with this update, and they want you ( experiencing problems ) to have a good time too. Im sure RSC will fix these problems, just give them the chance first before you turn your back on them.

Thanks for reading..
*!!wink!!*

I agree with you. It is frustrating when things don't work straight away but I've yet to recall any computing product that we ever released without problems.

After driving around and playing with the new features, I am prepared to embrace TS2012.

The RW user community has a growing reputation for solving just about any problem. My trust is in them. They taught me 3d modeling, for one thing...

As of now, I'm through with "The Other Site". the negativity and contempt from the MSTS users is just too much.
They would enjoy seeing RW3 compltely fail with its many fans and go down in flames. I too had MSTS since day one.
logged on many enjoyable hours with the sim. To each their own, have fun playing what you like. But why trash a game most of them never even tried?
I find peace and quite here. Thanks Hawk.
Denny *!!thnx!!*

Here, here! !*brav*! !*cheers*!

To sum it up, I saw the comment, "...now we've become troubleshooters"...
Yes, unfortunately that is the cost of enjoying the luxuries of computers. Personally, this is a lot more fun than my dad's HO scale figure 8 layout with 7 cars back in '72. And remember... this was FREE!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't it be nice if Sears gave us a brand new upgraded 'fridge every year?!! !*YAAA*!

In a few weeks we will all be drivin' and building again and have forgotten all about this. Hang in there everybody! !!howdy!!

Wow! You've been driving around?? I can't get past the opening view on any given route.
Prior to the 2012 update everything was working fine.
Still trying tho.

I have not even been able to launch RW since the update. My graphics card was outdated, with the launch of TS2012. But all of you are correct, and I plan to hang on and wait for the improvements. I'll be buying a better graphics card once I can afford it so that I can get into the game again. As mentioned above this is far more fun than any model railroad I could possibly build in my basement.

Seeing improvement!!

Unfortunately, I started testing 2012 with my (one and only) WIP route. Should have known better.
However, it appears that the RW2 routes (tested so far) are still negotiable with the 2012 update.
The WIP route is not. I presume a 2012 bug is responsible... as this route performed fine prior to 2012.
I sure hate the thought of having to start the WIP route all over again.

Sad to hear that. *!sad!* Can never have too many backups. Hope you can fix it (I don't think it could be completely broken; just damaged probably). Keep posting your test results; we'll try to help if we can.

I also started unable to get much of anything out of either mode, but after bout a day's worth of fiddling, I have the compatibility mode up to about where I had RW2 Thursday morning. It's at least likely that I will need a new video card to take full advantage of the new graphics engine, but this really shouldn't be a surprise given that I have a three-year-old system that was not top-of-the-line when I bought it in '08. As far as I'm concerned, it's worth it (even if I have to wait for it to be in the budget) because the improvements are just stunning.

Bob, check your PM. I have a couple of ideas you may want to consider with respect to your WIP route.

Well I only download from the railworks site. I had no problems. I agree with Tori it was free and I also bought the hc route. I support this because it's AWESOME. Yea it's got a few bugs but I believe that its going to get even better. The one thing I wish for is modern rolling stock in the dlc department. oh yea a eot would be nice to. I believe from now on I am going only to buy stuff or download from the dlc store from steam. !!*ok*!!
