Just want to give you all a quick hello. I am an avid user of Microsoft FSX and beta test for a couple payware companies involved with flight sim. My son, age 3 is in love with trains and pretty much any thing else with wheels, wings or flashing lights. While looking for some thing for us to here on the computer other then watch youtube vids of trains I discovered Railworks 2. Its awesome! I can enjoy good modeling and scenery why he sits in my lap and honks the horn at every building we pass. We both have a great time.

Of course like FSX, this new hobby commands me to begin to empty my wallet ROFLMAO! I do like the ease of creating your own scenery, routes and missions though, I SO wish FSX had a similar feature.

I have run into a snag using RWDecal. I splurged and got the donation ware version and I'm glad I did, but I'll be darned if I can get it to post to the sim. I have watched and rewatched the tuts on it and looked through the developers PDF for RW2. I'll make a post in the scenery discussion area about this in hopes to find some clues.

Again, I'm Mike and I'm looking forward to reading, discussing and learning from you all here.
*!!thnx!!*

Hi Mike and welcome aboard - if you are flight simmer you might recognise me as one of Avsim's reviewers incidentally - anyway, in regard to train instead of planes and specifically an issue with RW Decal, what you might want to do is take a flirt over to the UK Train Sim forum (http://forums.uktrainsim.com) and join that forum (even if UK trains are not your main interest), because there you will find forum member Nobkins, who is one of the main developers of RW Decal and consequently very knowledgeable about potential problems you might be experiencing. He is a very helpful guy - certainly was when I was having trouble getting it up and running he was a huge help, even answering my queries whilst he was on holiday despite me insisting that I could happily wait until he was back from his break! RW Decal is like a lot of things, simple when you know what you are doing, but one minor slip can have it behaving oddly, so if anyone knows the pitfalls and can help you with problems, it will be that guy.

Al

Thanks Al, I'll head over that way. I really hope to get to work on a local route and eventually connect with Portland, Maine.
