High Res Textures

Unread postby WhiteKnight77 » Sat Jul 02, 2011 9:36 pm

Does anyone know where I can pick up some high res textures for the cab interiors along with them for the exterior of the locomotive? I really would like to have some as the stock low res textures just look terrible. I will take all that are available.

I have the following Locos besides the default RW ones:
Wide Nose SD-40
SD-40
GP9
SD-70 (all three versions)
Dash 9
E7
GP40
SW1500
Class 143
ES44AC (BNSF)
High Nose SD-40

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Careful, from what i've read. 2048x2048 textures result in some instability.

I didn't think we could use 2048px textures. !*don-know!*

4k sheets are possible ,though not recommended . 2k I've used without problem and reducing the mips to 3 ( and not using a dozen sheets per asset ) works for me .. mileage may vary.

None around that I've heard of .. will be a case of DIY if you'd care to try.

2048^2 uncompressed textures apparently can cause issues, but then again IHH use them a lot. The F7 for one doesn't really need them, it's broken up into multiple 1024 already. Maybe the cab...

Cabs look fine to me, just no dynamic lighting. Could be your video settings? What kind of video card you using?

I'm running the 266.58 drivers. Not the newest but they seem to work the best. Probably do better with an older series card like yours. Make sure and use Driver Cleaner if you decide to roll back, if you're using a newer driver.

I haven't upgraded my video card drivers since I got my PC back in 2009. I am still running 182.8 series drivers. Maybe I should update them.

Would be a good idea, BUT, don't go with "the latest and greatest" The 192.66's worked well with my GTX 260. Not easy to find them on Nvidia's site tho. Click on "legacy drivers"
