Hi all,

Only this week I have started to try to pay attention to the signals.

The website https://signals.jovet.net/ is a great help

At the moment I am doing a Granger Heartland UP Scenario. I passed several diverging dwarf signals that made perfectly sense. but now are at . . . .



Which should mean . . .



So I stop and wait and wait and wait , finally try tab , and wait and wait . . . .

Now what is wrong with the way I am thinking ?

Looks to me like you are on the middle track and that signal has nothing to do with you. It's for the right track. The yelow over red up ahead of you is your signal.

Ah ok. Thanks. So I can simply ignore that signal. Good.

So how do I know which signals are applicable to me ?

In general, the signals directly overhead of your track or to your immediate right of your track (Engineers side) are your signals.

I do agree with Buzz. The red lights are probably preventing other trains to cross to the center track. Besides, you have a "clear" signal ahead (at your right), green over red.

The ones at the right side or overhead of your track.
You are not "ignoring" the 3-red signal because it´s not for your track.

This one , same Granger Heartland UP scenario, is my next problem. Looks like three yellow lights. But I was unable to find it on the UPRR sheet.

Three yellows is usually an Advance Approach. Next block in all diverging tracks are vacated, but the following are not.
You may "proceed at low speed preparing to stop".

Thanks. I wonder why it is not in the UPRR list.

The problem is that every RR has their own rules for signals. If the route designers have placed attention to signals (usually they don't), you have to consider that Kansas is a sort of junction for several Class I RR, but tracks are owned and owner uses their own signals.
Take a look in Google for RR signals.

Do some research for RR signals in Google. There is a lot to look for. Check also articles of Trains magazine.

I browsed many Rail Roads over at https://signals.jovet.net/rules/index.html , but dang I did not find 3 x yellow . . . yet.

It´s for this reason, I think that, in fact, is a red, green, red signal. Check the shadow colors over the disks.

Huh? You mean the signal colors can not be trusted and in this case might be be incorrect ?

How do I check those shadow colors you mention? By zooming in even closer using the free canera ?
