RW&A Company

Inspired by the RW online rail company being made by marelyman i have decided to see if any of you think RWA should have their own like theirs?
Obviously the company would be RW&A, same paintjob as the donationware set (if we are allowed to use the repaints online). But having something to represent ourselfs when ingame, kinda like a clan or team. we all know online will eventually become avalable, but it is best to be prepared ahead of time in my opinion.
this is a start but if anybody wishes to add something or say something please do, remember this is an idea to represent RWA online.

What's the purpose of this concept?

Basicaly a group of people from RWA who want to work together whenever they get online and to add some competition to the other groups that could show up. (basicaly who can get the most loads shipped in a day or something fun like that).
Also to attract more attention to RWA because there are people out there who don't regularly go online and might not know about RWA.
I also think having something like this could be a great deal of fun.

This idea has the possibility of getting very interesting if the online multiplayer works the way i hope it does. If it does there is the chance that we can have everybody who is in the RW&A to have the RW&A logo on the side of the loco, or even having one of the RW&A locos!

I like this idea. :) I am in full support of it.

Somebody's gonna have to make a proper road switcher for the R&WA; maybe a GP9 or GP38 repaint. I'd do it myself, but my Photoshop skills are seriously lacking.

Well the thing will be done but at this moment i am not shure if we will be able to put our own stuff into multiplayer. the only locos i can see in the game at the moment are the default locos and the RSC payware locos like the GP9.
Now how i see this thing being started is a dedicated thread here at RWA specificly for the RW&A, we would report on what we have done in miles driven, hours driven, freight hauled, ammount of trains arrived at destination by you, and so on......what I am hoping for is that you get your own loco to start off with and buld onto it from there (DMU's provided with freight). choosing where you primairly want to run you could start off with an SD40-2, and you gain "ingame credits" to add to your loco roster. that is already leading into another subject so i will just carry on with the point.
We would mark down who is in the "Company" by people sending someone an "application" (PM) to get accepted and posting the people on a section called "Staff".
Another section would talk about driving tips and hints for the "Employees". you get the idea, what do all of you think?

Funny you should mention that. After reading this thread, I went ahead and threw this together:

The green and yellow definitely aren't right because I just guessed at what shades Michael Stephen used on his RWA F7. But anyway, I'm completely open to suggestions for improvements.

Another problem that i think may happen in multiplayer is that you only will use the default locomotives provided by railworks not the one that are 3rd party downloads so for example if you have a reskin of your sd40 or other loco which you have downloaded from, for example RWA it will apear on multiplayer as one of the default paint schemes such as UP.The reason why i think this may happen because the same thing happens on flight simulator.I hope they think very well about this.

My guess is that, like flight simulator, it'll require all players to have whatever equipment is being used. That would allow third-party equipment to be used as long as everybody has it. (Actually, FSX allows you to use planes that other people don't have, but the game renders them as Cessna 172s.)

You know, VATSIM does have a group of files that gives you a low-poly representation of the aircraft the other player is flying. That way if the player is flying a B747, you actually SEE a B747. Not in nice detail as a payware B747, but you can still tell what kind of aircraft it is.

I agree with that but it would have been nice to see everybody's rolling stock even if you do not have it.

That would be R&WA - Richburgh & Western Alleghanies.

This is technically doable, but it would require the game to download the model, texture, and sound onto the computers of everyone who doesn't have that asset. This might be possible in the case of Steam DLC, but I don't think it could be done with anything else. Even if it can be done, I'm not sure RSC would be too keen on the idea of everyone being able to get ahold of large parts of payware DLC packs without paying for them, because you know somebody will figure out a way to capture the stuff that would be downloaded. And the flight sim method of using the model of default equipment wouldn't work, since with trains the length of the equipment must match exactly in order for the train to work correctly.
