Vertex Buffer Error

Unread postby trev123 » Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:52 pm

I haven't played the sim for a couple of weeks so I started it up yesterday and it got just as far as the small start splash screen which lasted for about 15 seconds then a black screen. When I clicked on the TS icon on my taskbar it opened with the vertex buffer error. Two things that I have done since last playing in getting the latest Nvidia drivers and the Tennessee Pass update. I don't remember ever getting one of these errors in the 14 years that I have been playing TSC. I have run System File Checker (SFC) and it did find some driver issues and fixed them and also did a Verify Game files on Steam and found some invalid files and fixed them but still the issues persist.

Try running in borderless. Running full screen is a confirmed cause of this. If you are running borderless, you recently had a driver update? If so roll back the driver and test. You may also add -DisableSilverLining command line as a debug. I don't see adding a new route that would cause this issue on all routes.

It only loads as far as the small startup screen so you don't even get into the game. I shall try rolling back the driver.

I reverted to the older driver and TSC works. The driver at fault is Nvidia driver version 522.2 which is the latest.

Same here. That driver caused me a few problems, the most notable being with TSC which for the first time ever I was unable to load - rewound back to the previous driver and all was well again.

I made a ticket with DTG about it before I had found a solution and have now updated it saying that the latest Nvidia driver caused it.

As already mentioned I made a ticket to DTG about this; the best they could do was give their generic response. Experiencing Technical Issues Guide : Dovetail Support (freshdesk.com) I have done most of that before I even emailed them but I won't uninstall about 750 GB of TSC and reinstall and remove 3rd party addons. When I mentioned that I had reverted to the previous driver and now TSC works they said that isn't a fix but a workaround. In other words, they don't know what causes it.

Another thing is if you Google this Vertex Buffer error all the hits come back about TSC and virtually nothing else.
