Kicked out

Unread postby buzz456 » Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:45 am

Well now I got up this morning to find I have been banned from the Dovetail Games Forum until March. !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!
It seems I posted too many reports about the mean spirited personal attacks by various darlings over there. As any of you know I basically stopped posting anything there a while back because there are so many petty cranks there who just disparage everything and everybody and attack if you dare defend anything so I changed to just complaining to the moderator about those kind of posts. It would appear that the censor (moderator) can't stand to hear that he or she may not be doing their job so the answer instead of telling me to knock it off just gave me the boot.
Oh well I guess I will have to find some other way to amuse myself than by reading that sludge by a lot of the posters there. Spikee being the notable exception who is constantly coming up with fixes and solutions to issues related to our sim.
OK rant off.

Understand and agree. Spikee (formerly Torfmeister) is the positivity in a field full of negativity.

That Forum is a pool filled with Dumbo's talking about something to create/do and end up doing nothing. Don't even bother with that forum. Last time I tried asking something to them, they answered wrong and I didn't even know they were wrong anyway. So yea....
Just enjoy here !*cheers*!

Buzz, you are doing quite well !
The bad thing is, they suggest that they are interested in fixing bugs, but in the end they don't care what the users want.
I'd like to remind you of the portal story: for over 10 years you could spawn trains from portals, I used to use that too, because sometimes it really makes sense. Now DTG comes up with the idea that this is not a feature but a bug and it is simply deleted.
Such behavior frustrates me. That's why I rarely write anything for them anymore.
I know that's not good.

I agree with you about portals Buzz. They were powerful feature but not implemented properly when the game was released in RSC days , (or earlier?). which made them buggy, Never sorting out the functionality of portals was a missed opportunity. They almost worked.
I had a lot of fun playing around with portals in the early days and they could do much more than terminate trains.
As you say it made sense to spawn trains from them. They could be used like an invisible "fiddle yard " on a model railway layout
They could also receive trains , and after a delay, determined by the user, they would re-appear heading in the right direction and sometimes on the correct running line when there were multiple tracks.
It was also possible to have trains shuttling between 2, 3 or 4 portals. almost indefinitely.

Oh Buzz, you were punished til March - so it’s like a little hand slap !*roll-laugh*!
I don’t know any one else than you who as spend endless hour on these various forum and helping people with all kinds of problems, aside from your many repaints. Social Networks are a bitching platform by excellence with little positive, nor productive contributions. Thus I shall end my bitching by thanking the MANY wonderful creators and twinkers who gives us so much pleasure and SERIOUS adding. !*cheers*!

Of little comfort, it appears that several others are now absent. The whole Feather River Thread has been "sanitized". Steam forums should be next.

I would have liked to read what Buzz wrote in that forum, as to deserve such penalty from those clean and meticulous moderators from DTG. !*cheers*!

It wasn't what I wrote in the forum. It's what I did reporting each and every time that one of those geniuses over there belittled a developer individually or said someone was not trying or used disparaging remarks about items. As you can imagine with some of the characters it was almost every post they made. I also asked several times why some of these posts were not culled without me having to report them. None of it was in public.

The DTG forums do not ad to the positive vibe that should be around the game. Instead it is a place of negativity run by a few people who are online 24/7 and try to answer every post. If you are not like them and do not enjoy the game in the same way they do they will ridicule you or make fun of you. It is not a nice place. :-(

Thank you, Cardinal51, you have summed up the status and nature of the DTG forums perfectly.
