Numbering

Hi everyone. I have quick question about locomotive numbering. What do you prefer? The auto number system or painted numbers? I'm wondering, is there a way to have different auto number fonts for the actual loco cab numbers and the number boards, or does the auto number system sample one font for both? I've run into a problem with my Coast Line engine as they used two different font styles.

You can make the auto number fonts anything you want and many do.. Ask any repainter though and they will tell you font editing is easily the most time consuming and patience pushing part of a repaint.. If what I'm repainting has a loco with auto numbers in the proper place I will use auto numbering and change the font accordingly. If there isn't a loco that places the number in the correct location I will use static number. Either way your SOL and have to do font editing... To do static numbers you have to open each font texture and blank out 1/2 of it so the body numbers appear invisible but the number boards display numbers still. Then change the DSCV to only list that one road number. Then clone a bunch of the repaints and change the static number each time and adjust the DSVC file accordingly. Either way, I prefer none, they are both work and not one method any easier than the other.

Needs UV's like so , this sheet 256x128 ( not limited though , can do 4k if you're so inclined )

I'd prefer auto numbering. This way the loco list is not so crowded.

Auto numbering, every time! Then the whole fleet can be reasonably represented by one piece of rolling stock !!

Auto numbering is nice but when you have a locomotive that has dirty and rust spots its not good.

I have many weathered locos in my fleet and as long as the auto-numbering is done well they look fine to me.
