A question for RSC

So I think the massive technical update is suppose to improve AI, right? What I'm wondering if that'd include being able to run player train as well as AIs in dark territories. Most shortlines in the USA do not have signals and run mostly on Train Orders, Track Warrants and radio calls. My question basically is, will RW ever get to a point where we can model dark territories without having to bury the signals into the ground?

this should be possible on multiplayer when it comes out, that is depending on how the multiplayer is set up? possibly let us decide what route we want and people with that route can join kinda thing?

Well it would be great if we could do it both online and offline.

They do have something similar to your idea in ship simulator extreams and in a rc aircraft simulator called real-flight, EXP Say i start a multiplayer session on realflight i am in control of who fly's with me at my airport in the same aspect you could say get six guys and play on Portland terminal. I would even pay for the first teamspeak for a rail line

Guys....I'm not talking about who can and should join a Mulitplayer Ops Session, I'm talking about traffic management with something beside the signals.

What I'm asking, is, would it be possible to model Dark Territory in RW, sometimes in the future?

One of the "other" things I do is game online. I have a Teamspeak 3 server running 24/7, and would be willing to dedicate a channel for the Railworks folks if you want.

There's nothing to stop you running signals as it is, so I can't see what's to stop you running MP sessions with train orders as it is. If they ever fix up AI collision detection so the AI can pick up loose stock instead of just ramming it then perhaps the AI can put more than one train in a block; I think the AI pathfinding is based on signal blocks at present though, so I guess you'd need totally new AI ( not a terrible thing... ). I think I remember comments about large AI improvements, but there weren't any specifics...

*sigh* Guys....this has NOTHING to do with Multiplayer, please understand this. It has to do with route and scenario creation, and all I am asking is will RW ever have the ability to model (in route and scenario creation) dark territories. That is all.

Multiplayer isn't even part of the picture when it comes to this question. Thank you.

Hi Shortliner,

There was some discussion about dark territories in the SOO line thread. If I recall there was some talk about burring the signals so the AI has something to work with.

Hi Shortliner.

To answer your question: I hope for it, but I think it's unlikely to come.
I think Paul Jackson said in a QaA on UKTrainsim that the signalling system won't be changed, only some AI changes.

It is quite possible RSC haven't stopped to consider the matter; there isn't an equvalent practice in the UK, not sure about Europe.
