Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather pack on Penn Steam?

Unread postby plethaus » Sat Aug 21, 2021 8:26 pm

Hey there y'all, just wondering if anyone has successfully added the AP Sky & Weather pack to Pennsylvania Steam aka Bessemer & Lake Erie? On other routes I've added it to I just replace the TimeOfDay .bin files for each season, but Penn Steam doesn't have a TimeOfDay folder. I'm sure it gets referenced somewhere else but I'm still learning the structure of things in TS as far as modding goes.

Thanks in advance!

From the RouteProperties.xml the route uses;

Assets/Kuju/RailsimulatorCore/TimeOfDay/Default.xml

and for weather;

Assets/Kuju/RailsimulatorCore/Weather/Default.xml

Thanks Rod! I ended up discovering that last night, but that was indeed how I ended up getting it working. Also I forgot to untick "dynamic clouds" from the graphics settings which was forcing the Silver Lining weather over some of the scenarios.

This isn't necessarily directed at you, Rod, but what's the point of the weather section of RouteProperties.xml? Isn't the weather set in each ScenarioProperties.xml anyway?

Here's another question on the AP weather effects.... I also use RW Enhancer Pro which automatically turns dynamic clouds back on. How does one overcome one program trying to usurp the other on what the setting should be? Which enhancement should be preferred for best appearance is the actual question in my mind I guess?

Easy answer: Don't use RW Enhancer Pro. It can be really beautiful with the Armstrong pack alone:
