I'm planning on buying one of them, but can't find any videos/reviews for them anywhere, and I can't seem to find one on RWA too. If you have them; are they any good? Is the light on better than the heavy one or are they both good? Personally I'm aiming towards the light pacific, but if you say the heavy one is better, I'll buy the heavy pacific. Any help is much appreciated! *!!thnx!!*

I have his light mikado and the switchers. I'm happy with them, and plan on getting the other USRA designs he offers.

Here's a short video of the heavy pacific. (I don't have the light version). It has some cab animation, but the controls aren't operable with the mouse. It has both loco and train brake controls, although I didn't demonstrate both. It also has dynamic numbering, however the number is set to 1234. This can be changed by editing the numbers.dcsv file in the engine folder. There may be some other features I'm not aware of. (I had the sound going through my headphones, but didn't have them on. Hence, the constant bell.)

Wow, thanks so much! One question though: is there also a Heavy Pacific variant with Walschaerts Valve Gear?

I have them as well. The numbering system is a bit cumbersome but once you understand it, I keep a cheat sheet handy, then it is easy. The same system is used throughout all his DLC. I especially like his heavyweight passenger cars. While you are there check out the freeware. He has some period character packs that are great.

-Noted. Thanks for the help! However, I still want to know if there's also a variant with Walschaerts Valve Gear, because the one in the video had Baker Valve Gear. I have seen a photo of them ingame and there was a variant with Walschaerts, although I'm not sure if that was the light pacific variant.

Yeah they operate sorta ok, but the models themselves were made for MSTS. They are the same quality of MSTS conversions so don't expect even Gtrax quality when it comes to the model. Best to try and convince someone to model a USRA light or heavy pacific since these are over a decade old.

They are the best thing available for these models today and very functional. If anyone wants anything better go for it. !!*ok*!!

Some may have been , though I believe that was just the diesels - most of the steam engines were built from the wheels up for Train Sim...

At least someone outside Kuju/RSC/DTG in the early days was prepared to get on with building a large roster, including narrow gauge and logging stock - most of them pretty good overall.

Maybe spend a bit of time looking through here...

We are looking at the same locomotive right? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you meant when you said, "most of them pretty good overall". This is most of them in a nutshell. I'm am pretty sure the cabs are all the same btw
