So I was doing some “Quick Drive” research and came across a discussion about “crew districts” and it mentioned “single-ended pools” and “double-ended pools” for engineers and conductors, BUT, it did not explain what those pools consisted of, were used, etc, etc. I can make some assumptions, but I’d rather hear from someone in the “know” that can explain it to me..... I was thinking I could use this as a starting point for determining start and end points in quick drive scenarios.

From what I've read, a "single-ended run" means you run a full length day from terminal A to B. On a double-ended run, two crews swap trains in the middle of the run where they meet. This allows crews to be back home that same night instead of staying in a hotel $$$.
