Nvidia Graphics driver 441.66

Beware the latest update to 441.66 - I installed this when it came out, didn't run TS for a few days, and then wondered why my frame rates had dropped from near 100 to a (un)steady 14. This is with a 6GB GTX 1060.

I thought it might have been a Windows update as other software seemed a bit slow, so tried a System Restore to before the update, after which Windows wouldn't start, so restored Windows back to how it had been and all was good - except for TS, of course!

I bit the bullet, and downloaded an earlier Nvidia driver - 441.41 - and TS is back to my normal frame rates.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi mate...

I am running those drivers - 441.66 with a 1070Ti GPU and have had no issues. On Wayne's wonderful Columbia Valley I am getting 60-70 fps, dropping occasionally into the 50's but certainly not the problem you were having. It can be EXTREMELY frustrating (been there, suffered that **!!bang!!** ) but touch wood, no present issues. At least you were able to roll back. I don't really know just how much benefit is actually provided to TS with the regular driver updates (other than breaking it !*roll-laugh*! ) More aimed towards the latest and greatest stuff I think...

As always, your mileage may vary

Sorry, not a lot of help...

!*cheers*!

What route scenario does this happen on?

Everything I tried! And now with 441.41 everything is back to normal.

No issues with the latest drivers for me.

I've had one reply on UKTrainsim from someone else with the same problem, this time on a GTX 2060 - perhaps there's a bug that affects the xx60 cards only. The xx70 cards appear to be OK.

I've reported this to Nvidia through Geforce Experience.

No problem so far with the 441.66.
You may have had a failed installation. If I were you I would try downloading it again, maybe using GeForce Experience.

I have your same card..

Perhaps do a verify of your game cache as you have said over on UKTS that you have never done one or something like that. I did one about a month ago which I had not done for about 3 or 4 years as I was having minor issues with TS. After it had finished it said thousands of files and would be re-acquired. In total it was about 600mb of files needed replacing. I started up TS after it had finished and was amazed at the improvement of the performance I got. Not only did it fix my problem but fixed others that I didn't know I had. One was the improvement of the stutters you gat when tiles load they were still there but not as noticeable.

But Trev123 if you do that any modifications that you have installed to your DLC will be removed and you will have to re-apply them. Have you not made or installed any modifications at all?

But latimers that is a red herring. That has never been 100% proven. Anyway, latimers if that was the case what would you rather have to do replace the modifications if that is true or have a poorly running game? I know what I would rather do.

Yes it has been 100% proven for certain types of modifications.

Sounds to me like you're using a sledge hammer to crack a nut.

Play nice please or I will have to lock this. First off a verify mainly replaces stuff that's in the .ap files so assuming your mods are not in that form it doesn't affect them. Second I have had the two click replacement set up for several years now so anything that might get changed can be restored quickly. Lastly I find that only some real old stuff is usually affected and I probably don't use it anymore anyway. To suggest that a verify is going to wipe out every mod is just wrong and misleading.
