Too Many Routes

I believe I have to many routes in Railworks. It takes forever to bring my route up, or scenarios from all routes. I would like to delete some. I only run American routes anyway. I mean no offense to our European friends, but that is just me. I understand that if I delete some I might loose some assets I have included in my own route. Is this correct? If I were to backup the assets as they are now, delete the routes and then add them back would i screw things up? Or should I delete the routes I choose then add assets back from what is left on the menu. Have I confused everyone?

Deleting a route will not affect the corresponding assets in any way. You would have to purposefully delete them from the Assets folder yourself, so you will be fine.

An alternative solution to deleting would be to go into the route you don't want to use and rename the scenario folder to xxxScenarios. You would also need to rename and ap files to something like ap0. This will keep the game from seeing and loading the routes,
If you are sure you will not need the assets in a particular folder, the same trick will work in asset folders, rename PreLoad folders to xxxPreLoad. and rename the ap files to something like ap0 and hide them from the game.
The benefit to this method is the ease with which something can be restored if wanted or needed at a later time.
Also, updates to routes or assets and verifies will restore the defaults.

Surely an easier method is to right-click on TS on steam and choose "View downloadable content" and untick the routes you don't want?

I agree with Peter. Just untick what you don't want from the items window for it uninstall. Just wait about 30 seconds for it to say uninstalled or not installed. See screenshot.
