TSW https://steamdb.info/app/530070/graphs/ over 100,000 owners. I don't know how many still play it though.

TS2019 https://steamdb.info/app/24010/graphs/ Over 1,000,000 owners. The same as above.

As for TANE, that is only the Steam values. Way more people are playing it not on Steam. Trainz people really loathe Steam. I dunno why, but they do. They all want DRM free software and on a DVD. Not to mention a lot of people have jumped to TRS19.

Used to be for me. Once I got Tane and now TRS19 I can't go back. Making sessions is way too easy and it has all the features in its editor that we want in TS2019. Very powerful editor. Then there is the route editor, I wish TS2019 had this editor. And now in Trainz TRS19 we also have 3D textures. Corn fields are not flat any more nor is anything else. Gravel, ballast, rocks, sand, dirt. Very nice stuff.

Then you guys upload here about 15 items a week on average. Trainz download station gets 30 40 or more uploads a day. Free stuff, not repaints of payware. Yes there are different qualities depending on who makes the stuff, just like here.

I have all the major sims and a few not major train games. IMHO Trainz TRS19 is what I expect from a sim. To each their own.

I'm at a loss as to why DTG would continue to sink money and resources into a sim that has 100K users, and basically back burner a parallel sim that has 1 mil users. Actions speak louder than words, and DTG should pay more attention to their own stats.

I'm with Bob on TRS2019. It is what TS2019 should be. Somehow, those folks N3V seem to grasp the train simulator market better than DTG. Compared to what Trainz use to be, it has grown up in a relatively short period of time. Hopefully DTG will take note of N3V's advances in their product, and implement the same advances into TS while it still has a commanding share of the market.

N3V listens to their customers. Tech support is great as well. All the devs visit the forums and share things with us and give support and help. All you have to do is go to the forum and post your problem. You'll get help.

N3V forums are more open to having criticism of the product, sometimes the forums are the "wild west" but N3V listens to the discord and improves the product.

Have said things over on the N3V forum that would get me banned in the DTG world.

N3V is user oriented.

My dislikes about Trainz in general are the model railway look to it (effectively a compromised display), and the cost of accessing the download station. Also, it's not updated annually, they just release a new version. I'm not sure if the routes are compatible with say TRS12, but what I mentioned is a big turnoff.

Seeing the same interface with TS may get monotonous, but the 11 year old graphics are still better than most of what I've seen in Trainz. The only annoyance is that there doesn't seem to be a successor on the drawing board for it, due to TSW essentially being a waste of time and effort from what I've read, and may face a premature demise.

TRS19 graphics are based on PBR.
TSW also.
So now we can see all nice assets in TRS19 also.

TRS2019 looks good with no PBR textures or anything new. TrainzItalia's Sherman Hill without anything special for TRS2019. Just an old TS12 route.

First Class Tickets go on sale every year for $13 a year. TRS19 in not an updated TRS2012. It is an updated version of TANE. Yes they charge for every new edition. They do not have 150 or so people working on the their team like DTG does. Nor do they make any DLC in house, it is all farmed out. They offer the public to make things and get paid for it. Stuff for TRS2012 and earlier, yes a lot of it looks like model railroad stuff. And there are people who actually make Model RR routes, with a basement with walls and ceiling tiles and anything you would find in a basement layout. Phil Skene has about a dozen of them out there. No, newer routes are not backwards compatible. And nothing in the new TRS19 is backward compatible due to the PBR textures and TurfFX items.

Bottom line, everyone likes something different. You go your way and I will go my way. I can't agree with your depiction of Trainz cause we both would be wrong.
