Update Today (Steam)

Unread postby PapaXpress » Wed Apr 20, 2011 12:49 am

When I launched RW tonight I saw that Steam was applying an update to it. Does anyone know what the update was? On the 'Recent News' page the last entry is back in February.

the people on UKTS say it was an update for Portland route, some files have changed in that folder. Can't say what exactly it did... Darn it RSC, we hate those silent updates!

Yes, I also want patchnotes.

It seems to be the announced update for Portland Terminal. Rick has told me that it will come in April.

I got an 82 meg patch last night. Didnt look at the route folders only the assets and my SW1500 folder is now date 04/19/11. But none of the files seem to be changed date wise.

Steam works in mysterious ways, doesn't it? Since I've had a copy of the update for a couple of weeks ( *!lol!* ), I have to rely on others to tell me when it's been made available to the rest of the world.

The items that comprise the update are as recounted by Samwolf; most of them have been listed on the G-TraX web site for a while now.

The track diagram that comes with the route is a single, long sheet. At someone's suggestion, I've made versions of track diagrams that are printable as a series of separate pages in several common formats. They're available from the site only. Click where it says "Click here" just below the slide show on the main page.

Some of the community's most talented scenario writers have been working their magic on the route. Look for their work on this and other fan sites in the near future.

There was a Ft. Kent update too, although I don't know when - certainly since 15th when I last updated - along with what appears to be yet another update for 3Dtrains/Allaboard core, and loco info for the CN SD40 as well.

everytime I start Railworks or any other steam powered game I get steam updates, but nothing ever seems to change that I can see
My scenarios are short, but they leave plenty of room for scope. Time to stretch to other routes I think

There still seems to be a problem with using Portland as a template (SBHH).

PapaXpress is right: for whatever reason the route cannot be cloned. I thought the problem had been fixed, but not so. I added this to the Know Issues list on the web site and to the downloadable User Manual.

I cloned it with RWtools.

I saw a post somewhere about this yesterday from RSC but danged if I can find it right now. Essentially it said there will be an update tonight (last night now) to update some of the underlying code in preparations for some new things coming later. Oh, and there was mention of one bug fix... about a route I think... but don't remember the detail cause I don't own it.
Basically it sounded like a foundation upgrade and shouldn't affect routes or play, so I didn't give it much mind. Sorry I can't find the post now.

There was indeed an additional update last night, but it did not fix the issue I was seeing with Portland.
