Can roll back to Train Simulator 2018 if possible??

I would like to roll back to Train Simulator 2018 because I am getting tired with " Access Violation " with Train Simulator in 32 or 64-bit edition. Also I kept sending the crash report to DoveTail Games kayako and the support guy kept telling me one after another to remove the program in my desktop. Here is one for example start with first one with support guy told me to remove HPComm Recovery and that is Hewlett Packard program so I did uninstall this. So I expect that is all good to run the program of Train Simulator 2019 but still the same with " Access Violation " and this time the support guy told me to remove Intel Storage Rapid Technology program and I did what he suggested. I expect that is all solved but still the same with crash report with " Access Violation " to DoveTail Games kayako. I am not going to keep sending the crash report to them. So that is why I am asking if I can roll back to Train Simulator 2018 with no problem or can't? If yes, then how do I get this roll back and where do I find this to roll back.

Let me know about this.

John

If you have a backup copy, just run the .exe file in that copy with Steam running.

Thanks Harold and will look up if I have save the exe file of Train Simulator 2018 in backup drive or in my USB flash drive. I know I have this but not sure where.

If I do found one but how do I prevent Steam from upgrading to Train Simulator 2019 when I sign in with my USER ID and password.

Thanks again,

John

Start Steam before the backup.

The backup copy won't be in a "Steam" folder so Steam won't find the backup.

Just got Railworks2 running from an old HD through a HD dock.

There also is a setting in the Game Properties that disables automatic updates: go to the Updates tab and ....

... I just noticed you cannot disable automatic updates there anymore ....

Steam wants you to keep all the games at their latest versions, so you cannot disable automatic updates. You can cripple the automatic updating using very restricted time schedules and setting a very low connection speed, but these methods aren't fool proof.

If you've found your backed up installation of Train Simulator 2018, copy it to some new directory on your computer, not in any of the Steam Library Folders.

Best to check if TS18 still runs with Steam in Offline mode, though I think Steam might perform some internal housekeeping when you first run your TS18 install that might require you to go online for it to succeed.

PS: How old is your TS19 install? And your computer's operating system in general?
If it went through many generations of Train Simulator and is only now giving problems, perhaps it is good to start a fresh installation of TS19 and first confirm it is running fine in both 32 and 64 bits. Make especially sure the C++ and other new dependencies are automatically installed by Steam on first run of the game. All your DLC from the Steam Store should work OK, it is usually only incomplete or unfinished freeware routes, repaints, physics and sound packs etc that give trouble when these are not properly installed.
Then subsequently copy your favourite downloaded routes, scenery etc. and rolling stock from the old install into the fresh TS19 and check after each route copy action if the game still starts and plays OK.
RW_Tools is your best friend here, as it can check if the route is complete. Leave off the trains that run in the scenarios for the time being, best sort these out once you've verified the route is complete and OK.

Leave all the old junk behind and once satisfied with your new Train Simulator 2019, put the old one in an archive.

If you go into the "properties" on Steam and "verify" the content the "access violations" will go away.

That worked for me.

Typical; DTG blaming your computer. Maybe they should realize that the actual program is the issue.

Not necessarily here,

if I remember correctly, CNBalaSub the OP has inquired and perhaps installed and removed many old and obsolete freeware routes from .rwp files in a few threads some time ago.
Many of these routes were never finished, sometimes not properly checked and packaged, and gave many of us also lots of issues, i.e. pontracks.bin and other residue that will crash the game.

Are you Francophone, CNBalaSub, from Quebec perhaps?

First want to say thank you to Martini and that's true DoveTail Games are blaming the train simulator members for their problem with the computer. I strongly disagree with DoveTail about this.

Second to Edwin and yes that's me cnbalasub here in this forum. You are correct about my old message that I have lots of problem with DTG Train Simulator compared to other train simulators that I have very rarely with the problem with the simulator but not DoveTail Games.

Third to Harold -- you mean that I have to go to Properties then click LOCAL FILES then click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES. If yes, then I will do this shortly sometime today.

Thank you for your help with this.

Yep, good for what ails you.

All vendors blame the users computers, Trainz had "cat hair" in the computer as an excuse.

That's true about Trainz and I have read several messages online about Trainz.

Thanks Harold for your messages.

I get Access Violations, too. The only thing I can really do about it is close the program. The fact is that a bunch of amateurs converted 32-bit to 64-bit. We wouldn't be having this many issues if it were converted properly. DTG's support system comes up with the exact same answer every time.

Doing more research will conclude that 0xC0000005 is actually an error within which the program handles memory.

We do not know so don’t jump to any conclusions. Many of us have gone through the update with little or no problems.

You have to step back a little bit. TS2019 32-bit is exactly the same as TS 2018 nothing has changed. Just the interface to choose 32 or 64-bit
The reason you are getting access violations is because you have "corrupt" file9s) or remnants in your railworks system usually from the workshop file, scenario, route, etc.
You can verify the game files for all eternity but they won't "cure" this type of error.
One way to fix the issue is a plain clean install. You need to DELETE all railworks and associated folders, uninstall, unsubscribe to all WS stuff - the latter has to be thorough. I would also reinstall steam at the same time. (Google).
Then you need to start your Windows system in safe mode. Do STEAM and TS2019 now load? If yes then open Windows, Steam, TS2019 normally if yes start to add back any 3rd party addons until you get a crash. In that case start Windows in a "Clean Boot" mode (Google). If that doesn't work then the rest is above my pay grade.
A full description of your system would be useful! PM me as per usual!

Peter -- You are right but I can't be bother to redo all over again with this program. Guess that I will have to put this game in back burner till DoveTail Games fix the problem. This is my second redo with the program of Train Simulator within 1 month and a half. Do you think that is fun to do -- No it's not.

Buzz -- Yes so but why is the support guy at DoveTail Games kept telling me one after another that caused the problem of Train Simulator. First he said that my problem is with HPComm Recovery and he suggesst me to uninstall. So I did then still the same not solved and send him another crash report. Now he said to me to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology and I followed his instructions but still the same with crash with Access Violation. I don't think that person himself know nothing about the problem of Train Simulator at DoveTail Games. That's my opinion. There's no reason for me to keep uninstalling one after another program that HP pre-installed the programs on my desktop. Now you see what I am talking about this.

The only way I can think of is to unsubscribe all workshop stuff and see what happen next with this?
