Bill Putnam's Barstow - Mojave - Cajon - San Bernardino - West Colton

Unread postby cnbalasub » Sun Oct 14, 2018 8:04 pm

I remember that there is a site we can download but now gone for good because Otto Wipfel died a little way back. And his site was closed for good. I did look up here and don't see any like this with that name. I am not sure if Bill Putnam will upload his route again to this file library because his new route is out yesterday. Or any members here in this forum can upload this route unless payware assets -- can't do this.

What you are looking for is right here: http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... collection

However, if you want something a whole lot newer (and better in most opinions...) then you want this: http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... collection

...just sayin’

It appears Bill’s new route is here: http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... collection

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your message and just download the Mojave Desert route from the file library and not sure if that is the one. I do have the other route from Tomcat and still in the Conents Folder and at last yes idid download Bill's new route but there are so many assets that are from way back. I don't know if that will work with his Mojave Desert route for his new route, Bartsow - Mojave - Cajon - San Bernardino - West Colton.

Already try both routes and everything is good except the missing tracks for both routes of Bill Putnam. I am not sure which track he is using for both of his routes.

Don’t take this the wrong way.....

There have been way, way too many words written about these older Mojave routes and their missing items going all the way back to 2014 and beyond, in both this forum and the other forum. If you want to mess with these older routes, then you’ll have to spend some time digging through the hundreds of threads on the subject to get the solutions to all the problems, if that’s even possible at this point.

Or, you can just use the afore mentioned “Cajon Pass Alpha” by Tomcat and have a more accurate and beautiful route without user modified tracks and hard to find assets.

Your choice really.....

Roger -- I have decided to remove those two routes because of so many missing files and not worth to dig further to find all the information related to both routes. Some of the missing assets are from Otto Wipfel and he passed away two years ago and no way to recover these files as his site was closed for good. So I am using Tomcat's route which is way better. That's my opinion about Tomcat's route.

Thank you again,

John

I'm a bit confused.
Is Bill's new route (South Colton, Cajon Pass & California Desert )a replacement for his old one (Mojave desert railroading)?

I think it is, They are very much alike. I have both but have only looked at the Trona area on the new one.
