P&LE Route

Unread postby nioux26 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 10:01 am

Hello,
I am new here. I am having trouble downloading the P&LE Route from the website. I have downloaded the latest version, but the read me said I need to have the earlier version, which is not on the downloads page. Unless I am missing something. Anyone have a answer? I am sure it is something simple, but for some reason I entered P&LE Route into the forum search function and it said something like "the words you entered are too basic" or something like that.

Thanks!

When Thomas submitted the current version of the route to the library he told me to delete the old version.
Consequently it's no longer available at RWA.

The version posted at Ottodad's site is complete along with the assets pack. Try this website:

To verify that my memory served me correctly, I went back and checked the email I received from Thomas about this version and he did state that this version overwrites the old version.
He did say that the asset pack was to remain.

I assume that the mention of needing the old version to install the new version is an error in the read me, but you know what happens when you assume. *!greengrin!*

I also checked Otto's site and the old version is not there either.

Edit 1: To add to Harry's post, I believe the version available here is the same version that is available at Otto's site.
I'm downloading the file from Otto's site to verify.

Edit 2: After downloading the file from Otto's site and comparing it to the one available here, they both weigh in at the same size, 385,592,618 bytes.
The read me's are identical also.
I would say that the read me is in error in regards to needing the older version.

Thanks for your help gentlemen. I will try the version I downloaded here and see if it works. I tend to follow the read me file very closely, maybe to a fault, as I am brand new to Railworks.

I am interested in the results. If your install doesn't work right, I may need to contact Thomas and see what's going on.

It will be a day or two before I can test this out. Going back to work. Yuck!

I got a reply from Thomas.

Here is what I asked him:
Thomas,

I had a member ask a question in the forums that I thought I'd see what your answer is.

In the read me for the P&LE, it says this:

"All those who did not install the September 29 2010
Phase-1 beta of the route must download it from here
before installing this beta:
http://railworksamerica.com/FileLibrary/Routes.html"

Is this correct?

Here's his reply:
This is what this means

For people who have not downloaded the Asset folder from the old CSX Mainline and for first time downloader's
you will have to download the separate assets folder along with the route that comes with it's own a updated asset folder

If you already have downloaded the standalone asset folder all you need to do is download the route only.

To me, the way it's worded, the intent is not very obvious.

I guess, in this case, it's a good thing very few people actually read this stuff. !*roll-laugh*!

!!howdy!! to you for your diligent reading.

I've been following the P&LE for a while now. It's an outstanding route and I know you will enjoy it. I have the September beta file still if is necessary to re-upload it.

I appreciate it Don, but if Thomas didn't see a need to re-upload it, I guess it isn't needed. !*salute*!

I'm stuck in Chicago right now, but as soon as I get home I will try and install the route, and reports my findings. If everyone else got it to work, I am sure I can too.

Hello

Everyone downloading the P&LE route that is on this site I will make it simple

Download both Asset folder the (separate one) and the route which comes with an updated asset folder as well

I am taking a break from building the route and will start up again at a later date

the route is the most up to date beta that was released
