replacing GP15 stock sound, advice on stand-in sound

Unread postby Matchstick101 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 6:56 pm

So now that I know how to edit bin files I was wondering what would be a good stand-in engine, horn, and bell for the GP15?
I know they use 12-cylinder EMD 645E and I think they were non-turbo as well. closest thing I can think of is maybe DTG GP38 or maybe VRC GP40 engine sounds? !*don-know!*

as for the horn and bell.... that I have zero idea on what would be a good fit.

any input would be appreciated.

Its a non turbo charged engine so any GP38 sound would be good. The GP40 is a turbo charged engine. As for the horn they were usually railroad specific so depending on the railroad you want to base it on will depend on the horn sound. The bell was usually just a standard steel bell. Hope that gets you started. Railroad specific horns are a quick google search.

I'd use the sounds from the SW1500. Both are V12-645Es
