Perhaps I'm the last to know about the gem of a freeware Trainsimulator utility called RWInfo.

You get an interactive route map, route info, lists of transfer points (ie water, coal, etc), route markers, and so on.

Thanks to gtrtroger for clueing me in about RWInfo.

I use it every day. Great tool.
