Toripony's C&O Alleghany & Armstrong Powerhouse Lighting

Unread postby ozinoz » Thu Feb 03, 2011 6:19 pm

Over on the UK forum, there is a thread concerning a new environmental lighting effect add-on tweak from Armstrong Powerhouse which I haven't seen discussed here. While directly focused on the UK, it should theoretically bring some improvements to US routes. The question is, does anybody know whether it will actually work with the amazing C&O route?? The thread mentions default routes and a couple of UK freeware/payware routes, but no mention of others. While it is not a bank breaker (about $5) if it isnt compatible or isnt going to bring anything of value, then that is $5 that didnt need spending.

There were some posts in the past few weeks from some user making mods to the rain/storm weather paterns, but these seem to have dried up.

!*cheers*!

Have you tried the Weather/Seasons file available right here in the RWA File Library by Tom (Tomkat) Boswell?

I don't know if that's what you're looking for though.

Hi mate...

Yes, already have those installed. They do a great job for day skies etc. Just seems these new tweaks add to the early dawn / sunset light environments as well as improved "dark" and a tweak for distant mountains.

have you seen the thread? (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=314&t=112700

Hi,

As far as I know, the C&O Alleghany uses a modified version of the BN Big Horn custom TimeOfDay blueprints, with new sunsets, sunrises, distant mountain colors, and more. So to use the Armstrong TimeOfDay you would need to edit the route's XML, it does not change automatically when you install the Armstrong product.

Cheers,
Michael

Indeed it does work on the C&O Alleghany Route. I love the 'softness' of the Blue Sky, but just drive a train through dusk-looks great. As for the 'DARK of Night' well, it is Dark!.
