AI Train Horn/Whistle???

Unread postby kcs_fan » Wed Jul 13, 2016 11:20 am

This question may have already been asked. Does anyone know if there is a way to make AI Trains sound a horn or whistle? If someone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
Thanks!

Great question, but have no idea. Always wanted AI trains to blow their horns/whistles at a grade crossing. *!rolleyes!*

It could be done for stopped trains in sidings or stations, placing the sound generator in the scenery. I wonder too if it would be possible to load such a sound item as a child object and trigger the sound some way.

Could always do a distance triggered one shot. Or Lua triggered horn blowing.

To addon to this thread, why are AI locos virtually silent when passing the player train? Specifically passenger commuters that run in either push or pull config. Is there a remedy to that also?

That's because whatever soundpack you're using doesn't have proper attenuation distances set up with curves against distance.
