Railworks America

Hi everyone, I’d like to explain my unexpected absence on RWA for over a month (If anyone noticed). In late April my hard drive decided to crash during a Railworks freeze-fest and all of my repaints went with it because I hadn’t backed almost anything up yet, and I was planning to back everything up that weekend. Of course I was surprised when it happened, but I was so mad at myself for not doing it sooner. I would normally just get over it and be back sooner, but on top of this I was having some personal issues both on and offline that I won’t explain here. I just took a break while I tried dealing with the issues, and I’ve come to a very hard decision regarding Railworks and the internet. As of today, I will be giving up the internet and in turn Railworks, and I will be transferring ownership of Desert Pacific Re-Paintz to my sister Ashley. Ash has kind of been working “behind the scenes” with me and chose not to be public about it until now. I’ve been teaching her my repaint methods for a while and she feels comfortable with taking over. Don’t worry about a giant quality change in the repaints put out, her repaint quality is on par with mine currently. A bunch of the Desert Pacific “ripoff” engines that are in the website’s gallery were done by her. As I type this she is going to a train show and won’t be back until the afternoon, so she will get her account up and introduce herself here when she gets back.

As for any in-progress projects: TestTraK NA will be released very soon, it has not died. Ash will pick up work where I left off (there were a few minor scenery issues to fix). If you are involved with me in any projects (such as the North Coast Limited coaches) please redirect any more PM’s to Ash’s account after she sets it up today.

I thought long and hard about this decision and as much as I hate to do this, it’s best for me to simply leave and focus on other things with everything going on personally. I wish you all good luck with Railworks in the future; I had a lot of fun developing for this great community.

Hello everyone! I'm Ashley, Brandon's sister and the one taking over Desert Pacific Re-Paintz. First off I'm sorry I didn't post sooner; I know Brandon said "this afternoon" yesterday but I got kinda busy after the train show and had to work today. Anyway, I'll introduce myself a little. My username probably seems kind of strange; it's just an inside joke about potash cars. As Brandon mentioned in his post, I've been working with him "behind the scenes" on repaints for a while now, and I use the same methods he used. The reason I haven't been public about it until now was simply my preference to not be very social on the internet. Now, I feel that with Brandon leaving the community, it's time for me to step out of my comfort zone and continue his work to the best of my ability. The first project I will get back on track is TestTraK NA. I will fix the remaining scenery issues and possibly modify some areas of trackwork that we both feel need improvement. If you were involved in a project with Brandon (like the North Coast Limited cars), please redirect your PM's and questions to me. Any repaints/packs Brandon was in the middle of and lost, like the Dash 8 Pepsi Can improvement, I will redo as well. Also, if anyone has a question for Brandon specifically, I'd be happy to relay it to him and give you his response. There were a few future projects not to be named that Brandon was planning before everything happened, so I will also start work on those soon.

I've got our computer up and running again and plan to back up every weekend, so progress can restart very soon. I'm excited to get to know the community better and I hope you will like what I have in store for the future!

I would offer as a word of advice to take most things said here with a grain of salt, especially when 'suggestions' about content start flowing. I am certain that the majority of folks here would be ecstatic to use your content as you see fit to make it.
