Rich Garber's Colton & Northwood route

Unread postby cnbalasub » Sat Sep 26, 2015 6:01 pm

This evening I bought the addons of Colton & Northwood with 40% off and already is in my program of Train Simulator 2015. No problem to get the route installed even the 21 scenarios but was surprised to see that there is no rolling stock for this route or scenario. Am I suppose to buy all the required rolling stock to run this route or not?

Let me know about this.

Thank you,

John

Hi John,
It's been quite some time since I last ran the Colton & Northern route, but from what I remember the scenarios used default locomotives and rolling stock. For those scenarios that don't use default equipment, you can use RW_Tools to switch out equipment you don't have with equipment that you do have installed.

Regards,
Rich S.

I thought it used all default stuff from the Kuju folder or if you are newer you may need to buy the US assets pack.

Ok and let me check to see if I have default stuff from Kuju folder. I believe that I have those but not sure at this moment as I am away from my main desktop that have the program of Train Simulator 2016. Will get back to you later.

Buzz, It's been so long since I've run Rich's routes, but I'm pretty sure the scenario's use default equipment. If you see milk bottles when running the route, then you definitely need the US assets pack.

The US and UK assets come with any All Aboard route.

Bob

I just checked the folder of Colton & Northwood and nothing with rolling stock in it. Is there a problem from steam that I got this route from earlier today. By the way I only got one route, Colton & Northwood that Rich Garber created way back and nothing else from Allaboardrails. Also I checked the folder of Kuju and see the sub folder of Rail Simulator US in my program of Train Simulator 2016. I was going to purchase this addon with US Loco & Asset Pack but the website tell me that I have them in the library of my Train Simulator program but don't understand why are the rolling stock missing from scenarios in Colton & Northwood?

Thank you,

John

Rich Garber's routes come with scenarios that use default equipment, but do not include that equipment. Most of his add-ons were designed and released before RSC/DTG changed what was included in the TS package, and if you didn't start with the old Rail Simulator or Railworks-2, you'll need to obtain the US Asset Pack (and possibly others).

Just to be sure, did you try running the scenarios and did you get an error message saying the game can't load some rolling stock?

Ohio Steel 2 doesn't have rolling stock included either.
As of myself I won't buy any other route from All Aboard.
Ohio Steel 2 has a nasty bug that produces giant black, red or grey polygons created along the car traffic patterns, when a train crosses a road that has live cars traffic.
At the beginning I thought the offending cause were some green cars so I isolated them, only to determine that was not the cause and that will probably be in the roads or their textures.

It's already been established that it was a change in the original Kuju car files and not the ScaleRoad shapes or their textures.

As for purchasing All Aboard routes, that's up to what you want. Rich includes some fascinating and challenging scenarios, and there's more of them than two or three DTG routes put together. I don't believe Rich could have anticipated the removal of the default stock, just as I cannot control how the Kuju cars got screwed up. Those faults lie squarely in DTG's camp. *!rolleyes!*

This happens on many routes from Rich Garber, it also happened on my copy of EYEIN12's BNSF Seattle Sub Payware route, so, it's a DTG problem, not the author's of these marvellous layouts, so, don't avoid obtaining them, just turn the road traffic off, it isn't needed and makes the routes look and play much better, there are plenty of static scenery car, bus and truck objects to populate your rural towns and cities with. Support your local route builders. !*YAAA*!

Did you buy it on Steam or from the All aboard site? If you did not buy it from Steam then you will not get the US/UK assets which is where the rolling stock is.

I never uploaded this to the library however this should fix your moving black and gray walls where there is traffic if the author is using the RSDL vehicles as ScaleRail uses and most others I think.

This goes into railworks\Assets\RSDL\IslandLine\Scenery\Vehicles. Overwrite when asked.

I will never say that his routes are not nice. I was a great fan of Ohio Rail back in MSTS. I even contributed with a file with all maps for the route at that time.
But the black polygons will not let me play with pleasure but disgusted. !**conf**!
I have nearly 25 DLC routes and no one has this bug. !*don-know!*

Now! In your final part you caught me in a so basic fact, as I have no idea on how to stop that cars traffic, lol! !DUH!

EDIT: I wonder if Colton would cause the same problem in my computer (it seems many do not experience that graphics glitch as I have read in a couple threads).
