Info from Matt Peddlesden about 2016...

Unread postby JimM » Sat Sep 19, 2015 2:54 pm

I just saw a note over on FB from Matt (works for Rail Sim), and he said that if you had to buy 2016 to get your upgrade, to go to support and send in a help ticket, and that they'd respond in a timely fashion...which I did a couple of minutes ago.

I don't know what they can do, I heard that if you got the upgrade, you wouldn't get the Turbine engine, but if you purchased it, you would. It seemed that, for the money, it was worth the $38. and change to make the purchase, just to get the engine, because I thought that would be in that neighborhood anyhow.

Hope this helps, but I don't know what they intend to do at this point. I'll post a reply when/if I hear back from them....I'm sure they're swamped right now with tickets though.

Good Luck,

Jim

So you purchased TS2016 and then what? It sounds like you got the extra content you paid for. What are they going to do, refund you the money you spent?

I think the point here is that you had to buy TS 2016 Steam Edition to get the 2016 interface. The auto update didn't and it still looked like 2015. Some people did get the new interface in the free update but most didn't. I'm not moaning by the way as I purchased TS2016 Steam Edition which I thought was good value for money. Got the UP Gas Turbine, DB DR 155, Riviera Line in the 1950s, Northern & Southern District Coal Route and the TS2016 User Interface Overlay.

I think you misunderstood me Jim - apologies!

The free upgrade does not contain any of the new content. If you want the new content then you must purchase TS2016, that's the only way to get new content such as the Turbine added to your game.

If you already own Train Simulator then the content of TS2016 is simply added to your collection, if you don't own Train Simulator, then you do now.

Hope that helps clear it up, apologies for any confusion.

Matt.

Seriously, folks, am I the only person who remembers the TS2014 to 2015 transition? The same things happened then: all owners of 2014 received a new version, but those willing to buy an augmented version were promised additional goodies. Then the fun began, because, apparently, the folks at Steam could not figure out how to deal with sales of TS2015 to former owners of TS2014 who had already received the free upgrade. I don't recall exactly how long it took to get that mess organized. Now, RSC is also implicating Valve, without being specific about their role in any of this.

At this point, I cannot yet purchase the "full" version of TS2016 because I already own the "upgrade" version of 2016. Fine. I can wait . . . probably at least long enough for the current discount rate to expire. And then more yammering will start.

Oh, the simul-anity!

I'm pretty sure the only "goodies" were extra routes, unless I'm losing my mind.

Sheesh - talk about making the waters muddy. Just reading the last FB entry above by RSC makes my head hurt. Can't they get their story straight? *!rolleyes!*
Cheers!
