Flying Scotsman Christmas Gift

Unread postby harryadkins » Tue Dec 21, 2010 8:01 am

Hi Guys,

It seems that Railworks and and the National Railway Museum are teaming up to give away copies of the Flying Scotsman as a stand-alone simulator. Here is the url: http://www.nrm.org.uk/scotsmangift . I haven't downloaded it yet, but it seems to be a scaled-down version of Railworks. I wonder if it will be possible to transfer the Flying Scotsman assets to RW?

Also, Railworks has a 50% off sale going on now. Check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/publisher ... ulator.com.

Merry Christmas!

I read a post on the Steam Forums, this is a cut down version of RW2. All you can do is drive the Scotsman back and forth, you cannot use it in the full version of RW2 at all.

The sale is really great. I just bought Ohio Steel, the G-TraX Berkshire and the Class 170 for 20 € all together. Hehe !*brav*!

Yep, simple controls and a short route, max 10 Minutes or so to drive. It's a very basic demo version of RW, but a nice marketing opportunity for the museum and may also attract some more people to RW. Adverts for both inside the game. Not meant to applease us Railworks owners I guess.
I had a look into the files and it seems they did a complete recompile of the code with another encryption method to make it unusable. There might be a way to get the contents out there, but too much trouble to do so. If you really want the Flying Scotsman, get it while it's reduced *!!wink!!*
