Windows 10 and Train Simulator 2015

Unread postby Rich_S » Thu Jul 30, 2015 5:10 am

I'm curious if anyone has taken the free upgrade to windows 10? If yes, any issues with Train Simulator or Rail Works package Manager running under Windows 10? Any issues with Rail Driver working under Windows 10?
Cheers,

I'm waiting a few days, until things settle down with MS. A Windows Secrets article said that they had left computers on all night to watch for notices that their computers were eligible to get the update and to download and install. Several installed OK, others failed for one reason or another.

I had been trying out the preview Win10 and had a dual boot system on my main pc. The program notified me of an update about a month ago and when I accepted the update it overwrote my windows 7 installation and crashed my system. Needless to say, I'm a little Leary of the upgrade and will wait a few days.

I wouldn't recommend taking the upgrade yet. Let the experts and enthusiasts sort out the bleeding edge problems. Come back in a couple of months and all will be good.

I have gotten the windows 10 update (from 8.1) and haven't had any issues with TS15 or any other games I have. So far I'm really enjoying it. The only problem I happened to have was my internet didn't want to connect with my motherboard drivers. After some stumbling in the dark I uninstalled the network drivers, and after a restart all was good. The only thing I would be weary of is with drivers, especially with older hardware. I recently built my new PC and have all newer hardware (within 1 year old of release) so that's something to watch for. Otherwise I'm loving the new OS.

Upgrading from 8/ 8.1 to 10 you "should" be fine. Wait if you are thinking about upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10, as Wayne suggested.

I have been beta testing Win 10 for a few months now and build 10240 is basically RTM, and it runs TS2015 (and all my other games) really well. BUT this is a clean install of Win 10, NOT an upgrade.

My Win 7 and Win 10 installs are on separate drives NOT dual boot. ( means they don't see each other, which was causing issues early on)

If you look over in Geek Speak you will see there are some driver and dll issues.
