My RailDriver Arrived today!

Unread postby Alpenfreight » Wed Jul 08, 2015 12:19 pm

I'm here at work counting down my hours until I get to go home, but I just got the email that my raildriver has been delivered !*YAAA*!

I went back and forth on the idea for a while to get one, but admittedly I'm very excited to use it. I've watched a few tutorials on Youtube on how to set it up, but does anyone have some words of wisdom to get acclimated to it? Undoubtedly there is going to be a transition to using it. I know when I first got a proper Yoke for flight-simming it took a good while until I could fly as well as with my simple stick.

I know there was just a patch released to make it work with almost all locos, are there still any issues out there?

It does seem a bit loose.

I actually wanted to write a small review of it:

Overall I think it's an interesting piece of hardware to control the trains with, but atleast for TS2015 there are still compatibility problems that make it a chore to use sometimes. My biggest complaint with the hardware is the inaccuracy of lever positions sometimes. I'm not sure if it's a TS2015 problem since the levers aren't actually axis, and are just emulating buttons, but especially on the power lever (the MOST important one), it can be really hard to adjust the power accurately. This led me to having the hud on all time time (which I thought the raildriver would relieve me of).

I've since stopped using it and prefer the keyboard since it is more accurate for everything but maybe breaking. Who knows, I might pull it out again someday...
