3DTrains

Unread postby Bananarama » Sun Jul 05, 2015 3:20 pm

Some of you are aware that the 3dtrains.com site went down on Thursday, July 2. This forced me to search for a more reliable hosting service, and fortunately, I was able to locate one at a reasonable price.

However, since I'm unable to access the forum database from the old server, much was lost, including many user registrations, all attachment data, and some old email. While the attachment files are toast, I was able to recover nearly all posts and registrations up to October 2013, but anything afterward, including posts and registrations are gone. Therefore, anyone who registered after October 2013 will need to do so again, and if purchases were made and file access is needed, then those folks will need to email their purchasing details. I'll be sifting through my email backups to try to get some user permissions updated, especially for those that purchased the Sherman Hill route. I hope to have this completed in the next day or so.

Note that some linked downloads may not work, but I should have most of the major files back online by this evening. Your patience and understanding in this is greatly appreciated.

If my old host shows up and allows me to access the old server, then I may be able to retrieve the database and possibly some attachments, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. If you find that your forum access is not what it should be, please let me know via email or PM.

My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Cheers!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water! !*hp*!

Sorry to hear, Marc. Hope the straightening out goes without too many ulcer-producing moments.

That sucks Marc.
I can't believe that the site wasn't in some kind of RAID mode to make sure something like that didn't happen.

Had nothing to do with the hardware - there was always daily backups. I suspect my host is having financial trouble and got locked out of the data center, so if something went wrong it stayed that way. I wasn't willing to wait around, as all I got were automated responses to support and phone #s were disconnected. Shame too, as he's a nice guy and he's hosted all my sites since 2003.
Cheers!

Okay. Usually when I hear of something like this happening, it's because the info was on a single drive, therefor I jumped to that conclusion.

Would this problem have any bearing on the fact I cannot log onto your forum (3DTrains) with a user name and password, supplied by 3DTrains 28 Oct 2014.
Nor can I re-register as I keep getting the reply EMail address already in use. Using the link for "Lost Passwords" is producing no response whatsoever.

As it stands I'm $32 out of pocket as I cannot use any of the software I have purchased from 3DTrains or Milepostsimulations.

Anybody know any other (Legal)means of getting hold of ScaleRail and ScaleRoads for Railworks other than the 3dTrains forum?

Pleased to report the problem has now been resolved.
This, despite me being unable to use the "Lost password" link, was due to Marc Nelson re assigning then EMailing me a new one. Which when used allowed me into the forum and subsequently being able to download the required files.
Was not quite out of the woods though, further required moves were to dis- able Bullguard AV and remove existing 3DTrain folder from RW/Assets.

My thanks to Marc for his patience and assistance.
