What a difference a model makes

For a while now, I've been looking for a model of the RS-11 diesel engine that looks better than the Britkits version, especially in regard to the cab view. Thanks to RWA's engine repaints pages, where I searched for "RS-11", I discovered the model available from VirtualRailRoads and its NH repaint by "blackjack".

These images show the differences:
Here's the Britkits cab view:

and here's the VRR equivalent:

No, they don't show the cab from the same viewpoint, but the differences are obvious nonetheless. Why does this matter to me? In the first place, because while I do not always drive from the cab, when I do I prefer a detailed view. Secondly, because when I include an engine in one of my scenarios, I prefer to provide those who will drive that scenario with a detailed cab view. The VirtualRailroads RS-11 pack costs 10,88€ (without VAT): $12.15 at today's rate. I don't favor making others buy payware in order to run my scenarios, but I will probably begin to offer alternate versions of my VNHRR scenarios that include the RS-11 which require the VRR model.

Now, if I could only find an equally detailed model of the Rs-3!

Again, just for comparison, here's an exterior view of the two models:

Interestingly enough, the Britkits model drives short-nose front, while the VRR model is the opposite.

There's a large number of repaints for the RS-11 available - for both the VirtualRailRoads LV model as well as the Steam PRR version (also done by VRR). It's a great model and one of my favorites to drive around in.

The model on the right is a GP9, not an RS-11 and is GreatNortherner's, not Britkit's

Well, they're both locomotives so they're probably the same. !*lho*!

What a strange original post!

I'm not aware of *ANY* Alco RS-11 not originated by Virtual Railroads, either in their "own" name or via RSC/DTG in PRR livery

Just looked at Britkits and they don't have an RS 11 only an RS 3.

No Scotch involved -- although that would be a great alibi.
