My Steam Locomotive Dreams

They say when you get old, your mind starts to revert to that of a child. I find that to be very true.
In no way does this post intend to cause controversy or hard feelings, they are just the things I dream about.

1. Hack & Michael team up and make a 1950s version of Marias Pass with water towers, coal bunkers and old bridges.
And the many talented people here allow their great objects and items to be used as well.

2. Mike R. rebuilds the Challenger and Big Boy to Smokebox standards.

3. The NH to Hartford bypass track get connected in the next VNHRR update / expansion.

4. Mike R. makes his next fabulous release the 4-6-6-6 Allegheny / Blue Ridge.

5. A Great Northern version of FEF-3

6.That Buzz, Wayne, Harry, JPeters & XDriver and all the rest continue to make their great addons, repaints and other items.

Well, you sure do ask for a lot old man. Yea I do. And I have little to offer in return.
But what I will do, is try my best to make a few steam scenarios that are fun but not too complex.

You guys do know that there is a ScaleRail version available from 3D so you already have wooden ties for starters.

I honestly don't have much confidence that enough people who already own the existing Challenger and Big Boy would cough up more cash for another model, even if it were way, way better. The fact that they've already been done means that making new ones (from scratch, of course) is economically not viable, in my opinion.

My dream would be to have a CP Royal Hudson to take across the CP mountain passes.

Billy;

I am with you!

I too grew up in the 50's and 60's with my most fondness memories of the railroads in the Northwest US where I grew up around GN, NP, SP, UP, Milwaukee Road, SP&S, and later on BN.

I would love to see the modern US routes retro-graded back to the transition era.

I know this would be a lot of work since many new structures would need to be added (period items) and some track modifications. I already swap out all modern concrete tie tracks with wood ties wherever possible. There already is a lot of US steam and first generation diesels available, but still room for a lot more. The VNHRR route is one of my favorites along with Horseshoe Curve and some early freeware routes done be Michael Stephan.

We need more of these.

It looks like Soldier Summit will be another good candidate for using early diesel route.

Regards, Gerry
