Where's the N&W Class J #611 for Railworks?

Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone on here knows if the N&W Class J #611 is being made for use in Train Simulator 2015? And if so, by whom?

I personally doubt it.

DTG seem to have an aversion to steam that isnt British (in all this time they have only produced 1 - PRR K4) Paul did the 3900's & 4000's sort of on their behalf, their V2 of the same was just a reworking of the original releases and after the way Mike was treated with his magnificent FEF3's I cant see anybody stupid enough to want to work with them under their content partnership arrangement. It will be interesting to see what Victory Works turns out.

It seems the VTM has filed a copyright/patent claim on the 611. That will likely mean that a model of the locomotive will not be able to be distributed in a program like Railworks. Not without paying a licensing fee. I dont think this would affect existing versions(Trainz has at least 2),but will put a damper on someone wishing to bring one to our program. But seeing how there are 2 threads on the 611,and only 3 comments between both, that tells me there is no interest. That is a real shame,as the 611 has been, and apparently will be one of the most popular, and well-traveled excursion locomotives in North America. I absolutely would buy one,but this lack of response leads me to believe I am one of the few.

Dont get me wrong, I would most likely buy a TS version too, but it cant operate in isolation. It would need a set of NW Powatan style coaches and somewhere to run; neither of which exist.

Can I get a link to some info on this? I have a hard time seeing something like this approved, and if approved, holding up in court. They did not design it, nor build it. It's like a classic car museum filing patents on their collection because they "own" it, annnnd that's not how patents work.

http://fireup611.org This the main site for the restoration of the engine. Lots of good stuff here.
Click on the "Restoration News" link. I think you will enjoy the site in general. Again,I am thrilled it is being brought back to life. I am just troubled by the patent/copyright proceedings. As far as passenger cars go,I would think there are reskinable cars that would be good stand-ins.

I'd buy it. 611 is my fav eastern steamer, even more than the big time NYC and PRR. N&W has a more Homey professional feel, like Chick Fil A.

That's....interesting. I wonder how they are going to argue for a trademark, considering they didn't build it, nor design it. All they do is own it, it's kinda like me filing for a Trademark for my truck. I guess it depends on what exactly they are filing for...

Anyways, I would go for a 611™ if a non-streamlined one was built. I personally don't like streamlined steam. They all look like suppositories to me*.
