Passengers

Unread postby drivertime61 » Tue Jan 27, 2015 11:10 am

Is there a way to increase the number of passengers waiting on platforms and also entering/exiting trains? I've googled this a variety of ways and have come up with nothing. I do see the little passenger and arrow icon when you run the mouse over a platform, but clicking with it while in the actual scenario of course does nothing.

I get the feeling somewhere in the editors you can increase your passenger revenue, but don't know where to look. Clicking on the People etc. icon in the Scenario Editor similarly does nothing. Having only just begun to use the Scenario Editor successfully, I've not looked into the other editor options yet.

Thanks.

I am not 100 % sure but I beleive that all has to do with the platform scenery. There are platform lofts that are labled S M & L ( or similar), the reference being light, medium or heavy platform people walking. Unless there is an option in the editor somewhere, I beleive the only way to change the density of the platform people is to change the platform loft they walk on to one with heavier traffic. If someone knows better I am sure they will chime in to correct me.

If you double click on the loft in question, the flyout window to the right gives the option to change the density of the platform based on time. You enter a percentage and a corresponding time, and the platform will be at that percentage of density until the clock ticks over to the next one. See the attached photo. Note also the blue pin things. These can be moved around to create a boundary for the passengers. If there is something on the platform, you (should) be able to keep the passengers from walking through it.

Hope this helps

Sure helped me. A question others may ask though, was this in the scenario editor or the world editor?

What the heck's a "loft?" *!greengrin!* In other words, I am indeed one of those "others" who needs to know which editor to go into, how to find a loft, etc. Would appreciate being walked through this as though I know nothing. I don't. But your comments thus far Zach are encouraging - that it can be done.

I'm just tired of seeing near empty platforms at what should be some of the busiest terminals on routes like NEC, NY-NH, London-Faversham, Hamburg-Hanover, etc. I swear there was more foot traffic in TS14.

Thanks a lot gentlemen for responding and hope to get additional guidance.

Lofts are linear objects (like track, roads, fences, platforms, etc) that are placed in the editor by clicking and dragging. They are in place as ribbons, which can be double clicked for options. The editor in question is the route editor.
