New Here! Suggestion on Vintage Routes?

Unread postby Alpenfreight » Sat Jan 10, 2015 10:09 am

Hello All,

I'd just like to introduce myself. New to trainsimming but life-long lover of trains. I want to share a picture that encapsulates exactly what I love in the world of trains,

Image

I want to recreate the 50s with the Super Chief. Running through the whole west, bringing passengers to exactly where they need to go. It's such a fantasy of mine!

I have found the 3DTrains version of the Superchief. Is this the most accurate one? How about routes, are there any vintage western routes that have any of the track between Chicago and LA?

Thank you for having me in your community! Looking to have a lot of fun,

Welcome aboard!

The 'Cajon Pass' route covers from Barstow to San Bernadino. It is available here: http://railsimulator.com/product/208307-Cajon+Pass , or on steam. It comes with a Warbonnet F7 amongst other locos, but no passenger cars for it. I'm not sure if this is the same F7 as the one at 3d trans or not. Unfortunately the route is set in the modern era, so some of the buildings, road vehicles, and infrastructure don't match the 50's and 60's era you are looking for. The nice thing about Railworks/TS2015 though is that you can edit these things to your own liking in the route editor. There is a good selection of period rolling stock and locomotives available, as well as scenery items.

G-Trax made a set of passenger cars for the Super Chief, but I can't seem to find a link to them. Maybe someone else in the forum can point you in their direction.

Britkits has a loco and car set here. http://stourbridge-lion.webplus.net/special.html I don't own it, but I'm sure somebody here can give some feedback on it.

Again welcome to the community! If you have questions, people here are happy to help, but it is worth searching the forums first to see if your question has already been answered.

Running through the whole West is a tall order.
TS 2015 has a number of routes, which are usually branches and short parts of main tracks from different railroads and different periods.
