Railworks Crashes Dump File v49.4 on Start up

Unread postby ColoradoRailfan » Sun Dec 28, 2014 4:14 pm

Today I was trying to launch TS 2015, but only seconds after I clicked the shortcut, it crashes and saves a dump file, I try to launch it from my library on steam but still didnt work, I did not install any DLC, the only thing I installed recently was Ian's SD80/90MAC pack, I uninstalled that but still didnt work. Every time I try to launch TS it always crashes to the desktop, I do not want to verify cache. Can anybody Help?

CRF
Have you cleared the blueprint cache in TS 2015 settings? Try that!
If the crash is consistent and you keep getting a dump file then cache verification may be the ONLY way to go.
Try this - Close TS2015
Open Steam right click on TS 2015 then "view downloadable content" untick any loco (if any) that was the same type as Ian's SD80/90MAC pack and likewise any route(s) it would be used on.
Close and exit steam
Open Steam right click on TS 2015 then view downloadable content and re-tick the items you unticked above.
Close steam reboot open TS2015 and under settings clear the (blueprint) cache.
Restart?

Like I said, I can't actually get in the game and start menu, it crashes the first second I click on "Play" in steam.

Nevermind everyone, I got TS working again, all I needed to do is to do a full restart of my computer, now everything works again.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Has the secret of reading those dump files ever been revealed? If so, I'd like to know about it, if for no other reason just to see whether they contain anything remotely helpful or at least informative.

No. I think it's pretty well established that they serve no purpose. I suppose some software geek at some time had illusions that they would set up a system like MS reporting system to improve things. No one knows if anyone at Microsoft ever sees those things either.

OP
The dmp files may be useful to RSC/DTG as they are now asking for them again, but to interpret them you need the TS2015 source code which we don't have. I think that logmate may be more useful to us in a lot of instances or the Windows event viewer if Windows OS per se is involved in the incident!

I had a PONTpack.bin file in TS today and logmate showed me where it was and I was able to delete it.
