A question please?

First, Happy Veterans Day!
Second, who is maintaining all the ROW on my routes, keeping them freshly mowed and edged, and am I paying them enough?
Finally downloaded and installed The Montour. I didn't have a hard-working coal route and this one is perfect! You done good Rich!

It costs you nothing.
They use tiny nanite mowers that are invisible to the naked eye.
On a more serious note, it is very tedious to add grass. I've got a rework of Castle Rock that has become my virtual model railway and placing grass is one of the things you really have to be in the mood for.

Well, with the new irregular asset blocks, as long as someone comes around and makes some generic green grass and such as a single bunch, instead of in groups, then it could be a lot easier. The old method of rotating large groups of grass could use an overhaul!

Thank you for the compliments on the route. Also wish to thank you for your service, I did four years in the USAF as a teletype repairman in the late 70's early 80's, those were fun times. I spent a few years at McClellan AFB and spent my weekends railfanning the Espee at Roseville and surrounding areas

Rich,
Quick follow on question. We're all the crews called for duty at the engine house/dispatch office at Montour Jct. or were they called to work at other locations on the route?

Road crews were called for either Groveton (Montour Jct.) to work the Mines at Westland and HIlls (Montour #4 Mine) or called at West Mifflin to work Montour #10 at Library. Even though West Mifflin was owned by the Union Railroad (United States Steel) Montour crews did work out of West Mifflin. There was also a local yard crew called for the Champion prep-plant that reported directly to the Champion yard. One last local crew was called at Montour Jct. to work the local industries at Beaver Grade road, Scott, Briggs and Turivas, Imperial and Muse.

Thanks Rich. So maybe I need to set some destination/named markers and some portals for interchange traffic before I start scenario building.

All major destinations / locations are named. I did not add any portals to the route, because the only trains you would find on the route would be Montour trains. The Montour was a slow speed coal hauling railroad that used Time Table and Train Order operations for traffic movement. The Panhandle line and the P&WV do have portals, I never added portals on the B&O at Snowden or the P&WV West Side Belt at Salida.

You can add destination markers to your scenarios.
I'm not sure about portals, maybe these have to be added to the route itself.
If that's the case, your scenarios won't be playable for anyone else unless you also publish the modified route.
That would be a shame, because more scenarios for Montour would be welcomed.

Well, I was thinking of the portals for the interchange traffic only. Having P&LE or B&O or P&WV traffic enter the scene, pickup loads, and depart stage right or left; same for drop offs would be cool. Likewise for other interchanges. Granted, this would all be AI work timed to the players actions. Maybe something for the future Rich.
Looking at "Montour Train Movements - 1973" that I grabbed off Internet as source for scenarios, plus some timetables for rules, etc. If I can come to grips with "how it operated", I'll try some scenario building.

You don't really need portals for your AI traffic, if you can start and stop trains out of sight.
Portals only provide a convenient way to make AI trains disappear when no longer needed.
