Baldwin Centipede scenarios on HSC

Unread postby DapperDan » Sat Oct 04, 2014 1:52 pm

I've received a number of scenarios for the Centipede on HSC again (I had originally deleted them when I got the pre TS15 patch, but have since received them again). Since I don't have this loco and cars that come with it I thought I could possibly swap them out in RW-Tools with Empire Builder stuff. Tried this in the "Last Train to Gallitzin" scenario with no luck, as what I thought were the correct changes/swaps just crashed TS when I tried to load the scenario. Has anyone out there (assuming you received these scenarios) been able to swap the Centipede items, and if so, how were you able to do it. I'm obviously doing something wrong with trying to handle the swapping, as the Centipede is confusing to me with it's Front Wheels, Body A2, Rear Wheels, Rear Wheels, Body A1 & Front Wheels configuration.

Thanks,
Doug

Weren't we supposed to get a new tool with 2015 called Driver Swap? It was supposed to make it possible to swap engines in the editor much easier.

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall such a feature being announced.
@DapperDan, I just swapped 2 Centipedes for 2 GP7s and it worked well.
Here's what I did in the RW-Tools scenario editor:
- Selected the consist
- Selected the 4 Centipede Front Wheels and Rear Wheels (not the Baldwin Centipede A1 and A2), swapped them with HSC cabooses
- Select Baldwin Centipede A1 and A2, swapped them with HSC GP7s
- Saved the scenario, loaded it back
- Selected one of my HSC cabooses, clicked on "Delete Item"
- Repeated for my 3 other HSC cabooses
- Saved the scenario and played it

5- Edited the scenario again in RW-Tools

7- Repeated for my 3 other HSC cabooses
8- Saved the scenario and played it

I don't know if step 4 was necessary, I just wanted to see if it worked.

Thanks for the response Chacal, I'll give it a try. Eric, I believe you're on to something regarding the Driver Swap tool. I had forgotten all about this feature being announced, but I think you're right. I wonder if a person could still find the announcement that made reference to this feature.

Damm it sucks with the brain going south more and more these days and the body doesn't even get the benefit of the warmer weather down there! !*roll-laugh*!

Thanks guys

Chacal, I've tried what you suggested, but when I try to swap either Centipede_Bodyworks_A1 or A2 with the GP7 I get a pop window advising me that I can't swap a wagon for a Loco. The wheels weren't a problem swapping them with the caboose, just the A1&A2 Bodyworks.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong. !*don-know!*

Make sure your copy of RW-Tools is up to date.
Also make sure your Railworks files are flagged read/write (there's an option for that in RW-Tools).

Not sure what you mean with Centipede_Bodyworks_A1, this is not what I see in RW-Tools.
Here's what you should see on the right side of the RW-Tools window:

You need to select the Baldwin_Centipede_A1 or A2, normal or "Cold&Dark", depending on what's in your scenario, select the GP7, then hit the "Swap Selected Item(s)" button.

The driver swap tool works great but in your case (or the case of not having the initial rolling stock) it would not help you. To use the tool you just open the scenario in the scenario editor and go to the engine you want to swap and put the engine you want to change it to beside each other then you left click and hold on the driver thingy on the original engine and then drag it to the new engine and let go of the button. If you had it aligned correctly the swap will be done.

Below picture (don't know how to do screen captures,,,guess I'd better learn) is the error I received when trying to swap the GP7 with the Cent Bdy A1 Cold&Dark.

I Just tried the swap just to test it and it works fine for me
I do not know if it makes a difference But try changing the dot in Passenger to Diesel in the find available Rolling stock section.

Thanks for the suggestions and help guys, but I gave up and went ahead and deleted all the Baldwin scenarios before reading the last post from robbit. If I get these scenarios back when I feel it's time to do a verify on Steam, I might give it a go one more time.

Thanks again,
Doug
