Canadian Currency Coming to Steam

Unread postby DrewG » Thu Oct 02, 2014 4:26 pm

I recieved an Email from steam with the follow message:
"Dear Steam User,

Steam will soon be priced in Canadian Dollar!

If your Steam wallet has any money in it on October 7th, 2014 (Pacific Time), your U.S. Dollar balance will be converted to the Canadian Dollar, at a conversion rate dictated by market value at the time of conversion.

To view your account balance, simply log into your Steam client or the Steam website at http://www.steampowered.com. Once you have logged in, you will see your balance in the upper-right corner next to your account name.

Thanks,

The Steam Support Team

http://support.steampowered.com "

Our lovely rainbow money will finally be useable on steam instead of loosing some to the conversion rate!

Gosh are they butt backwards. The US dollar is in the middle of a major rebound. Strange thinking.

So we don't have a choice about this?

I would rather keep my US Dollars on Steam, not some weird Canadian crapola. !*not-ok*!

Firstly, Colourful Currency is cool. Secondly, It will only affect Canadians, just like if your in England the store uses GBP not USD.

**!!bang!!** Steam isn't switching the US dollar on Steam over to the Canadian dollar. Currencies are going country specific (at least for the countries being added) over the next year. Steam will be introducing 12 new currencies to Steam. These include currencies from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, The Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Ukraine and Norway. These will join the already available currencies from the US, Europe, United Kingdom, Brazil and Russia.

It would be good if you could choose which currency to use.
When I got some DLC not to long ago it worked out cheaper in £ than in $.
Frontrunner in the file library now!
