How Many People Know...

How many people around here know, that modifications do not need to go into the .ap files?
I'm curious, based on comments here and at other forums.

I don't think anyone can answer that question.

I know, anything outside of the ap file is read first and used.

Yes, this system has been discussed here many times when it was first deployed (for TS2014 I think).
Trouble is, when they put out a new .ap file they have to delete the normal files, otherwise the player would have redundant files. Sadly this will also delete any modded file.
After initial deployment, the Steam client is supposed to leave your modded files alone.
Deployment was bumpy at first, and possibly still is, because errors can lead to files being accidentally deleted.
This may explain why we're not 100% sure how the system works.

After you make mods to extracted ap files, your supposed to back them up in an install folder and use the rw tools installer to reinstall all your mods. Every mod you add to the sim, you add to your install folder also. IMHO...

You're right Bob.
I had been just reinstalling backups of the Assets folder, but now that things have changed in the Kuju folders I think it's time for me to build up all my bins in some kind of folder structure like I've been doing with my uploaded mods.
