Looking for a watering point, that will work in Castle Rock.

Unread postby Ericmopar » Thu Sep 04, 2014 12:42 pm

I've tried watering points from Donner and Sherman, but they don't work in Castle Rock for some reason.
In fact, I found out the watering points on Donner don't seem to work there (on Donner) either.
I tried to water one of Dick's steamers at Colfax, and it wouldn't take water.
Mike's Connie and Dick's steam engines will both water up on the RW&A, but I don't want a water tower with RW&A on it on my Castle Rock Balloon Track Project.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but if you want to add a watering point at the scenario editing level, it won't work because a watering point is interactive. If you're working at the route editing level, keep in mind that you must place a track marker (destination or siding) alongside the watering device and locate the watering device's doo-hicky (never know what to call those things) on that marker. Hope this information helps.

I've tried all that, which is why I'm asking questions. I've gone into the route editor on Donner for instance, and the markers for the watering points are there on the track, but I still can't water up a steam engine on that route. I've had the same problem on Sherman hill with the Challenger and Dicks Heavy 2-8-2.

I'm looking for a good water tower like the one on the RW&A.

Are you assured also to place the link on the track?

Yes it's on the track. I figured out the RW&A water tank does work in my modified route, but not other watering points. I shouldn't say that, there is a British water plug the looks like it might work, but I haven't tested it yet.
You can't place a watering point in the route unless you also place that dohicky on the track, otherwise the watering point simply disappears.

I really like the G-Trax water spout that I found, but it doesn't retract out of the way.
I think we need a water tank reskin of the RW&A one. *!greengrin!*

I wonder if there are any interactive water points in the RCAP?

Hi there.
When you refuel water with a steam engine at one of those points, press F5 to see if the water level is increased. If the water level of the engine is increased, the water point works perfectly.
I think you're confusing "interactive" with "animated". Not all water points are animated.

I know the difference between animated and interactive.
It's a problem on some routes though. My watering points on Donner have the link placed correctly, I've gone into the editor and looked, but they won't water my Brit-Kits Heavy Mike for instance.
I've had the same problem with watering points on HSC.
I don't own the S.P. Cab Forward, so I couldn't say if that engine will take water on Donner Pass, at the original watering points.
The Brit-Kits Mikado will take water just fine on the RW&A, as will Mikes little Conni.
When I placed the RW&A water tower in Castle Rock, it would water Mikes Consolidation. When I placed other watering points, it would not. Those watering points had the link placed on the track.
I couldn't find anything in a search, but I have heard of this watering problem before. Some watering points and some engines don't seem to get along for some reason. Or it's the route. !*don-know!*

So, how long is it that you haven't been able to make water? !*drool*!

There are pills for that, I think. !!howdy!!

Well, I got this cute little standpipe to work. Wish I had an actual water tank though. But this'll do for now.
Thank you for the input everyone.

Tomorrow's headline:

Brits invading Castle Rock. Details on FOX now (and for the next month or so).
