The sale is on so...

Which routes are good for the Great Northern F7 ‘Empire Builder’ as I just like the look of that and it does sound rather 'romantic'... if you know what I mean.

Stevens Pass or Marias.

I posted a whole bunch of Marias Pass pictures of the Empire Builder back when they first released it. You'll love it MM.

I recommend getting Marias if you want to have more scenarios for the F7. Both Steven's and Marias are fantastic routes, with phenomenal scenery and realism. However, Marias runs at a much smoother frame rate than Steven's (at least for me), so if you wan't better performance with still great detail, I recommend Marias Pass. !!*ok*!!

Not to steal Marleyman's thread, but I too was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what route(s) I should get. This based on your personnel experience with said route etc. I have the following routes.

Donner Pass
Horseshoe Curve
Marias Pass
Pacific Surfliner
Sherman Hill
Stevens Pass
and the default ones that came with TS13

I'm looking at either NEC, Ohio Steel2 and Portland Terminal, or possibly something else that might be recommended.

Thanks, and once again, apology's to Marleyman. I just thought it would be better to post on this thread instead of starting a new one.

Steal Away. I did title the thread 'The sale is on so...'' so anyone can talk about the sale.

Doug, I would skip NEC. Ohio Steel 2 is brilliant with a lot of switching and a bunch of scenarios. Portland Terminal is older but has held up well and it's also fun with some new engines and rolling stock. Get 'em both if you can! !!*ok*!!

IMHO if I would recommend some routes and locos here is the list:

Routes:

Marias pass (if you like long mainline running for freight, plus a little bit of switching)
Stevens Pass (if you like long grueling mainline grades for freight, plus ALOT of switching)
Sherman Hill (For anyone who likes UP)
Ohio Steel 2 (Best payware eastern switching route out there)

Locos:

GP20 (fun how realistic it is to use)
Any SD45 (Just a great loco)
GP38-2 (jus cause I like it)
GN Empire Builder Set (Just a great luxury trainset that everyone needs to have, comes with lots of stuff)

I'm really disappointed the Coaster hasn't come out yet. That's the only upcoming DLC I've been wanting. Dang, this is the first time since I've gotten this game almost two years ago that a sale is on and there's nothing I'd been planning on picking up! I may pick up the SP GP20 while it's on sale so I can get the ATSF repaint when it comes out though, as well as the ATSF wagon pack and maybe the RS-11.

Also I agree with thecanadianrail in regards to the SD45, definitely my favorite locomotive I've driven.

The base game is on the daily deal for a massive 82% discount. The Surfliner is also 82% off so if you don't have it and want it, now is the time to get it!

I wish I was more patient so I didn't have to pay full prices for the Pacific Surfliner and Steven's Pass.

Regardless tough - they are worth the money.

I decided to get the NS SD45 and the RS-11 today. I almost have all the American content so not much to buy for me.

Well I just sprung for the base game package because it included two of the things on my wishlist, for a third of what those two would have been on sale separately. Plus I got a few extra things that I wasn't necessarily looking for, but they'll be fun to play with (er, I mean drive...) !*roll-laugh*!
