Amtrak Viewliners and an older Dining Car for Railworks/TS2014?

Unread postby ChrisOnline » Tue Nov 26, 2013 8:15 am

As per the subject line. I have browsed for this but come up with nothing. I wondered if anyone is aware of models of the Viewliners (NOT Surfliners).

I have a bug about recreating Amtrak's Crescent train (New York to New Orleans), hauled by electric to Washington, then Genesis from there onwards. I traveled on this train behind Genesis Heritage #184 in Phase IV colors (magnificent loco!) from Washington to New Orleans (it was the only loco, due to failure of the 2nd unit which was removed). I was excited to find the #184 reskin (which I have further modified for my purposes), but lack of Viewliners leaves the project hanging.

FWIW, it also strictly needs a dining car which isn't a Viewliner but has a profile something between the Amfleet II cars and the Viewliners. No idea what that is called, but is anyone aware of a model for that?

FYI, the full consist (at least the one I was on apart from the single Genesis) would be:

2 x Genesis P42DC
4 x Amfleet II
Amfleet II cafe
Dining car (model unknown)
2 x Viewliner sleeping cars
Baggage car (heritage)

Actually a fairly ugly looking train as the cars are all different profiles, but it's real and I want it :)

Can anyone point me in the right direction for Viewliners and the Dining Car?

FWIW, I have an ATSF diner as one of the bonus downloads if you have any of my payware items. It would make a suitable stand in for a heritage car. :D

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Hack, I didn't know who you were but see you are 3DTrains. I visited the site, but couldn't seewhere this dining car fits in in your payware section, what official livery/color scheme is it - as in the picture, plain aluminum/steel with no colorings or markings?

thebigroyboyski, you are actually working on Amtrak Viewliners? How far down the line are you? I would be very interested obviously!

I'm not too far along with it because it's my first rolling stock model and I have a lot of new techniques to learn. As I learn more the model speeds up.
I got bored wanting so many different things in the game so bit the bullet and got myself some 3D software.
I'm not putting a timescale on its release but if you follow the thread Arizonachris linked you'll see how I'm progressing !!*ok*!!
Cheers

Chris - the car is an ACF/Pullman diner lettered for Santa Fe, and is a bonus download to any of the payware offerings from my site.
Cheers!

Will it be available for those of us that have only purchased your MSTS stuff too, or is it only for those who have purchased the Railworks stuff (understandable if it is just the latter, but figured I'd ask anyway)?

If you have access to the download area, you have access to the files. You'll find the car in the ATSF F7 thread.
Cheers!
