I'll post what I came up with for my horn and a few sound tweeks in a bit in a "Sherman Hill Cab Ride" video. It'll be over in the video section on here.

The dynamic brakes are still pretty powerful. More than 7% and you stop 80 loaded tankers (with adjusted weights) and 5 es44s in about 50 feet on a 0.8% grade on Sherman Hill.

There is eye candy and balm for the ears. A good horn sound adds to the immersion factor.

Grab your ES44 KH5LL from here, make a back up of ShermanHill/Audio/RailVehicles/Diesel/ES44/Cab folder and drop the files from the archive in that folder.
Restart Railworks and enjoy the KH5LL blaring it out over the plains.

Like written above, a complete and better mixed replacement sound package will be made available in a while.
We might even be getting rid of Mr. Hernandez and get three axle truck track sounds if the author finds the right sound samples.

Really, Bob? I find I can control the train from standard scenario #6 nicely going downhill towards Cheyenne, often needing as much as 50% on the handle to bring the speed down when a diverging route comes up. But that tran has a mixed lashup of ES44, SD70 and SD40 and I am still not sure all the units work together in dynamic braking.

A pity the Ammeter bar in the SDIS is non functional because the trick is to gradually increase the dynamics due to the incorrect implementation.
I am still working on a proper dynamic brake handle action with setup, warning buzzer and the prime mover revving up according to resistor grid current.
Got it working on the old Kuju ES44 but now have to start all over again.
But now the engine scripts are obfuscated and not in plain text lua anymore, making it a lot harder to decipher and write a new script.
Without a working Ammeter bar I am considering wether to continue or not.

Sorry 'bout that. New file uploaded with proxybin pointing to right bell.wav.

It is not that difficult to change sound samples, it is the mixing and effects that are the hard work. Barely documented by RSC and quite complicated with chains of events and aliases.
Anyway, lets wait for the sound doctor to provide us with a complete new ES44 HD sound pack: roars and hisses, creaks and squeaks, bells, whistles and all.

I think you are right, when running the new ES44 solo and not too fast one hears a distinctive ta-ta-tam tam-ta-tam indicating the cadence of two trucks with three evenly spaced axles going over a joint.

Different track rules have different frequency of rail joint sounds, jointed or welded rail, and switches rumble different from the Kuju ES44 as well.

All in all it is a sound better model.

OK, thanks. Links updated.

The complete horns and bells sound pack is available from the RWA file store. Credit to Boeing737 of course.
Link http://railworksamerica.com/cgi-bin/RW3 ... l?file=443
The Leslie Supertifon sounds great as well, but on other roads.

Tired of foreman Hernandez? Sample as much as you like off your railroadradio.net's favourite scanner, edit and loop it and save it out as a 16bits monaural 32 KHz .wav file to put in the cab audio folder of your engine of choice.
If you are clever with the proxybin, you can have each road's engines play the radio of that actual road or region, subject to what those scanners catch up of course.
Or delete all cab radio from railworks and listen to railroadradio.net live while driving.
