I have an idea of what probably happened at RSC HQ but don't know how to explain in English... something like new freeroam scenario created in a machine (with the "correct" new name starting with GE C44-9W), and engine.bin packed from another machine (with the old name Dash9-CW44). !!**sorry**!!

This would explain why you can see in "Drive by Train" either Dash9-CW44 (supposedly the old name) and also GE C44-9W (new name? where within the bin files, then?), but in Scenario Editor only the old name (for those who have saved old scenarios). Those who don't have old scenarios (created or modded before update) can't see the "new" (updated) engines. Something like that....

One more thought... Seems (to me) that since a long time (and more often day after day) RSC is using new people to do a thing, that have no previous experience in the same thing. Missing what I call continuity and systemic vision of the whole thing, or even of a certain small thing. The designer modifying something is likely seeing only the tree in front of him, but not the whole forest behind that tree instead.

Well, at least in preserved Brazilian's Rain Forest if you enter the forest only few (say) 300m and are not neither an expert woodman nor a native (nor a resident) of the region, you'll be totally lost (in forest, not in space like Robinson's family), and only by a huge luck (going to the right direction, casually) you'll get out of there.

Lost in Tracks, that's could be the name of a new (or current) drama series...

**!!2cents!!**

Here is the english term: Release Management

I can't believe they have a person in charge of this, nor a process in place for releasing products.

Nahhh, i'm not letting nthem off the hook, but I am a stickler for the truth of things.. Know what you mean about rain forests.. Our forests here arent anywhere near as dense as the amazon, but we've got mountains sticking up through them that create valleys and washes that'll get a normal person lost and turned all around in a heartbeat.. I watch Life Flight head out to the mountains three to six times a week to search for missing people.. Sometimes they dont get found..
You may be correct about the new scenario thats wiping out everything else, but that would leave the question of why Steam isnt downloading the original bnsf dash 9s any more.. I cant even re-buy it for myself. Says i already own it, but no download, and no dash-9s.. Once this latest experiment finishes up i'll run through the scenario list and see if what youn say happens on my machine as well.. I'm taking the day off from airplanes so i gots lotsa time :)..

I just read a post that claims if you delete the original files, _.SBN & _.SBNMD5, that will fix it. Going home in a few minutes to start the rebuild, might have some more scoop on this later.

Well, I have alot of _.sbn.MD5 (is not _.sbnMD5) and _.sbn in many \railworks folders, including \Dash9Pack01 folder (its _.sbn and _.sbnb.MD5 were also updated, with the updating patch), and my Dash9's are working.

For sure that means delete and verify cache to replace a supposedly previous (original) deffective _.sbn* files. *!!wink!!* Just deleting both files gives the lovely SBHA* screen *!!wink!!*

You can call the geo what you want, the blueprints define objects. One of mine is a bit wonky named ( the NS C40, I think ) but the rest show up as "Dash9-44CW <livery>" which is... someone didn't really know what they were doing :)

Here's something; who's trying these with Steam in offline mode?

So someone said to delete these files, knowing that they would cause an SBHH out of sheer viperous-ness and mean spirited-ness perhaps??

FWIH...

All of my Dash9 Pack01 locos function perfectly as well as most of the RSC Scenarios. There are no blueprint.spk or blueprint.spk.md5 files anywhere in my Dash9Pac k01 Folder ... The only location in my 65GB Asset Folder I have blueprint.spk.md5 or blueprint.spk files is in AcelaPack01.

One has to wonder just how hard it would of been for RSC just to add the text into the Bin files to add the rain and other TSX effects and leave all other files alone so that everyone could just do a simple copy and paste to get their repaints to work and not have to spend hours trying to work out what they RSC have done. Maybe it's time RSC hired some coders that know what they are doing because the ones they have now just seem to be experts in breaking things.

Sorry Doc.. The scenario fell through as well..
I started RS2012, selected BSB from the list, and chose Dash to Leonwood. The route opened with missing assets including the dash 9s so i chose to edit the scenario. In the right fly out, all RSC engines were de-selected. The Dash 9 didnt even appear in the list. In the main left menu, nothing remotely like dash 9, C44 or anything showed up..
The experiment against my anti virus also failed.. It isnt my anti virus ( panda ) causing an issue.
I'm deleting the two _SBn files and reverifying to see if that helps, bu to be honest, with a fresh new clean non working install on a computer upstairs thats never had steam or railworks on it. I'm not very confident it'll work..

Your gonna love this.. I deleted the two _sbn files and reverified. They were not downloaded after verification. I'm not even sure they were included in it..

Yes - it worked first time for me. If it's worth mentioning, I uninstalled all my Dash 9 repaints before the update just in case they broke anything. Maybe this helped, I don't know.
