No, the default sounds awful, but with b737lvr's horn pack, that issue is long gone!

I think it looks great! You can actually tell the lights are on from a distance and the prime mover sounds are spot on; you can hear every cylinder fire through my subwoofer, great bass finally on some engine sounds! The horn was pretty weak in my opinion but a quick swap with b3v3lr's K5HLL (The ES44 Horn.proxyml still works in the new engine) and its a perfect sound pack! !*YAAA*!

How about a video of it.

How about the cab, do we finally get a working SDIS, the systems display and information system?

Nope... Only a big digit number for speedometer, same for BP making them easy to read.

Still aimed at gamers then, instead of simulator players! When running the game in windowed mode, I always have the ControlStateDialog open, esp. when driving steam engines.
The F5 HUD shows too few parameters, RSC could take a leaf out of OpenRail's book here.

Wonder what RSC has planned for new rolling stock or wether any third party will fill the void, more "game" or more real trains?
But if the basic simulation engine doens't provide hooks to read out the variables to be displayed in the SDIS, there can be done nothing about it.

Is it about time for an Open Railworks or some serious bin hacking of the main GameManager.dll? This core file has grown considerably in size over the last few releases of Railworks.

I think the new model is great! I also like the sounds - no complaints here.

To be fair BC also works (but you cannot bail off the air, nothing new), ER doesn't work, Main Reservoir works (unrealisticaly, though matches with game's physics), Reverser, Ammeter (same of Main Res.) and Throttle works fine, Air graphic bar doesn't work. Anyway is much better than before, no doubt, you can drive without F4 with the current displayed values.

Thanks, Doc, for this info. At least we are not looking at blank displays and "N/A"'s anymore.
I suppose it is about the best RSC was capable of.

Does this new ES44 come with non-elastic couplers?

It seems all of the Sherman Hill rolling stock is free of the elastic coupler syndrome.

I believe it is a Sherman Hill asset. I ran a scenario onthe NERW with the so called default ES44 and no goodies in the cab. Then tried Sherman Hill and it was a different cab.

The new ES44AC is an entirely separate asset from the default one. In the editor it is listed next to the default engines with the Sherman Hill designation as "SH ES44". I was hoping it would overwrite the cab and sound's for the standard ES44 but nothing a little copy pasting can't solve !!*ok*!!

I might be wrong, but I believe our old default ES44 is no longer the 'default' ES44. If you look at DLC in steam, Cajon Pass is now DLC (with its locomotives?) - its not Default USA content anymore.

The Sherman Hill ES44 is the new Default ES44 and will probably assume the roll that the old one did. Right?
