Oh where is Bill Gates? I need a free upgrade to windows 8! They are still using windows so I should get a free upgrade right? I mean by now you'd think they'd move on to skylights or sliding doors or something! *!greengrin!*

I bought railworks 2 a couple years ago and have been impressed that I've gotten free upgrades to 2012 and now 2013. Most companies would have charged for that.

If it is a new BB model with new textures, I don't know why'd they'd sell it to you for free? If I came out with my own sd40-2 to sell, should I just upgrade everyone for free cause the game allready has one? Can anyone confirm the BB model is the same model and not by just looking at in a picture?

As far as donner goes, I think they realized just how badly that failed after they hyped it so much. For some users such as myself its almost unplayable.

I havn't looked yet, but what is the problem with the head light?

The default one has that yellowish cone extending to the track acting as an attempt at a headlight.

Hmm... I wonder if that could be alpha'd out.

I tried removing the model from the folder, but made the whole rear set disappear, so I put it back.

That happens when you remove GEOs. But you said it was a cone, which means it also has to be transparent. If so, then its "transparency" is controlled by the alpha channel in the texture.

Costs on digital goods don't cease once development is completed - they continue with server space, optional maintenance, and time - all arguably akin to the manufacturing process (when downloading, bits and bytes stitch themselves together to "manufacture" a file on your PC). Negligible, yes, but nevertheless valid. I see what you're getting at, but your example is still an apples-to-oranges analogy. Cost would be another debate entirely.

Looking at the video posted on the FB page, I think it looks pretty good, and for the sake of a couple of beers ($20) I am happy to buy again (and the Challenger too), although would REALLY love to see a couple of different 800 series variants. It wasn't just about the articulateds... Funds to RSC means a longer product life...

2 things though - how about some period 40's - 50's rollingstock, not this ridiculous modern stuff and a bit puzzled about the nebulous "improved sound upgrade sometime after release."

Please, 800 series **!!bow!!**

There's a Challenger v2.0 now too. That, I got for free with the original Railworks,so I'll be happy to pay for it.

I 2nd the 800 series! !!*ok*!!

I've plugged for the 800s as well. It would be nice for a UP Excursion pack with 844 - 3985 - 6936 and E units in a bundle. Call it the Cheyenne Special.

From an ESPEE Fan

The UP 800 Class was super, However I'll cast my vote for the ATSF 3776/2900 Class 4-8-4s. Truly magnificent machines that could and did make the run from Kansas City to Los Angeles without change pulling such trains such THE CHEIF and the SCOUT, and at times the entire run from Chicago to L.A. They were extremely versatile being used in freight as well as passenger service. A distinguishing feature of these locos were the large 16 wheel tenders which held 7000 gallons of oil and 25,000 gallons of water.

Hi all,
I have to say I certainly can see both sides of the issue and I personally have some 2nd and 3rd order concerns myself. I too purchased the Big Boy and Challenger Steam engines from the steam online store. I haven't patched it or applied any of the community made corrections as I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the add-ons. I don't mean this to be a jab at Sly of IHH, quite the opposite actually; I was hoping he would get around to updating these engines. Because of the fantastic job he did in creating the Duchess of Sutherland which I too purchased. But let’s face the fact that isn’t going to happen and RSC would be foolhardy if they didn’t fix these unique American Steam Icons and put them in their fold.
Being a loyal customer to the tune of over $700, I have stopped keeping track of my purchases and I know I’m a sad person. I would hope that those of us that purchased these engines will be able to get them at some discount. How is RSC going display them in the “Collection” area of the Train Simulator 2013? As it already shows I have the Challenger and the Big Boy. How will this affect the scenarios I already have?
To be honest, I don’t think I would be as quick on the draw to pay the full $20 price for each if all I got was the engine and some scenarios. If there was some proper rolling stock for them that might be different. I know that there is always the chance of a sale, but I haven’t ever seen these steam engines discounted during a sale. But I have only been hooked since January of this year. So I think I’m going to take a deep breath and wait and see what happens. I wonder if anyone is working on a Yellowstone?

Since I'm getting vibes that oe of the BNSF guys has ties with RSC, I thought I'd go ahead and state some of the model's flaws that have not yet been corrected. (this is true for both the Challenger and Big Boy)...(I'm sorry for sounding like a rivet counter, but after seeing the new consolidation, I'll never go back to settling for less than the very best.)

1. The driving rods are still wrong. They improved them, but there are still flaws. They are too narrow, they need to stick out farther from the wheels.

Image

2. The steam generators are completely wrong. they are not an oil drum, or pop can. They need to be remodeled for those steam outlets to make sense.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 389&nseq=7
3. The tender needs to have another little square dropdown about midway through on the right side only. They need coal boards, and more detail on top too. (a higher stacked coal model would be good too.)

I know I sound gnitpicky, but I know my stuff. compare the model to the prototype, and you'll see how much is missing that could be there. I'm just trying to assist in making a better product (I'll email this to RSC if needed !!*ok*!! ) !*salute*!

I've notified them of most of the changes. However, not that it falls on deaf ears, but sometimes changes I state can't be made within a deadline. A lot of my feedback for prototype detail will be seen in the UP SD45s that are bound for release some time. There's one specifically that I think you guys will die for.
