The white dusting on the running gear is from the silicon dust associated with the heavy sanding used for traction on the hills, especially aroung "the curve". And while the K-4 on display at the curve has silver side rods, just about all of the others pictured in the Pennsy Power books seem to have dark side rods. The side rods were painted silver for the builders photos, but it appears they did not stay that way for long.

I do agree to a point. If there were multiple variants of a basic class, it certainly wouldn't hurt to include more than 1 in a DLC pack. There are enough PRR locos at Strasburg to choose from to produce future DLC content. I do also agree to a point concerning DLC "quality" for want of a better word. Compare the upcoming Woodend line and the coal stage and the ones provided on HSC. They are not in the same suburb let alone street in model quality. There are plenty of resource sources about for details. Surely all DLC deserves the same level of accuracy and detail?

That said, I am very much looking forward to giving these a run up the Curve

It's really not but keep telling yourself that.

But ofcourse their UK stuff is flawless! Why??? !*don-know!*

If you owned a majority of the UK stuff available from them you would know this statement is so far from the truth it's completely laughable.

The HSC is a great route. I'd be quite happy if all of the NA routes were as good as HSC. And I think I'll be quite happy with the K4 as well, even if it comes in just a single variant. That they realized the iconic status of the K4 shows good thinking on RSC's part. It seems the perfect choice for new DLC to run on the Curve, I think.

But, one nice thing about your posts is that it got Bill out of the woodwork and posting again. !*cheers*!

I agree about the details which have not been done very accurate such as the power reverse and compressor are really basic, the drop coupler pilot seems to be missing some also.I wish they could have gone to the level of detail of the King class.

It is a trade off, between super detail and crippling frame rates. Obviously the more detail the more poly faces and then the slower frame rates. From the pics I have seen, IMO they have a great balance. Models are never going to be as super detailed as users might like; its all about compromise.

I think it is good they are holding back on the cab shots, it preserves some mystery and allows a big reveal on release. I was pleased to see Adam post a couple of weeks ago regarding the sounds. Steam sounds to me have always been a minor disappointment. A steam loco sound is visceral - you feel it as well as hear it, which just cant be replicated, but all in all, I feel they have done a great job; yes there are niggly things I wish hadn't been done, or had been done differently, but we are talking about a $30 game. Perspective...

Looking forward to getting a run. Now they have cleared these out, its time to start on the next PRR steamer for the roster (we do need more than 1 (IMO at least 3) ) :D

The title of this topic is always true. The release date is now 9th february, from RSC web site.

Maybe the cab is not ready ... *!rolleyes!*

Well, patience is a vertue. *!!wink!!*

Geez, you go away for a couple of days, only thinking about getting hold of these when I got home today only to find they have been put back 2 weeks *!lol!*

Did seem optimistic to have two major DLC releases for the 26th, the UK route and these.

Oh well, 2 weeks is not that long...

I love the way the smoke textures look, also do I see a bit of firebox glow underneath the trailing wheels? :D

One week to go, or 7 days, which ever you prefer - not that I am counting :D

Do agree that the smoke is finally starting to look better - just need to be a bit darker. The firebox glow is a great touch too. Hope it is not too long before they return to the workshops and roll us out another PR steamer

Somebody within RSC has this thing about shooting pics against the light, almost in silhouette. Very arty-farty but not really the tool to use when trying to sell your product :D

I noticed it too. Common sence to shoot money shots in the sun light, please.
Do they ever look at the shots before they post them? !*don-know!*
