"OK, back on topic, anyone noticed the braking on the SD40T? I'ts absurdly strong! 2% will slow two locomotives at 25% throttle! (Snow Play scenario or whatever it's called) Along with the abrupt grade changes, hardest it's ever been to control consist speed, even just two locos and a cabeese. And front engine has no sound, only helper"

I just finished "Cold Play" with no problems. The dynamics worked fine for me although it seemed that they worked better using the keyboard rather than the "Raildriver" Also had plenty of sound in the lead engine. Still haven't solved the missing signal gantries yet though. Really liked the ice buildup on the windshield.

Jay, you have to have the in game detail setting at 10 to see the signal gantries. This is an issue with more than just Donner Pass.

I emailed RS.com at the weekend about this, so we'll see if they reply.

I have in fact got a reply today (1st working day since I sent the mail), so I guess they are taking the bad feedback for this route seriously. They say 'Thank you for bringing to our attention the issue regarding trees viewed through the cab windows of the GP9. We will need to investigate this problem as did not occur during our testing before release. Initially it appears our shaders are failing under a certain condition, and therefore thank you for providing your computer details to assist in resolving this matter.'

Edit: if anyone is interested, here are screenshots of what I'm seeing from outside:

Disappointed by lack of response....

Unread postby Rich_S » Fri Dec 02, 2011 4:21 pm

I must admit I'm disappointed by RSC lack of a response to this thread. Did anyone from RSC even look at this thread to see the list of issues found? I don't tweet or twitter or use facebook, as my idea of social networking is going down to the local beer garden with a group of friends and talking in person not via some web page. So for me this is kind of disappointing not to even see an acknowledgement from RSC that the issues are being looked into? Am I to assume that this is it and RSC has moved on to other projects?

Hi Trevor,
Yes, I was just reading through that thread and while I'm happy to see RSC is making updates / corrections to the route, I'm still puzzled by their lack of response to this thread? In the past someone from RSC would have at least replied to this thread stating the issues were being looked at. But this time around nothing. I don't want this to sound like a nit picking session, but I'm beginning to wonder in the future are they only going to reply to the general public through Facebook?

That's the same problem I'm having, using an ATI Radeon HD5780

Greetings everyone, I'm Janine from Switzerland.

I have an issue with Donner Pass. Besides the stuff that's already been listed (clipping issues with textures and bumpy overpasses on hills), I got a much more major issue on my version of Donner Pass on RW3.

Image

As you can see, basically everything is gone except roads and railtracks themselves. Some trees and horizons and sky work fine. I never had this happen on any other route, not even on larger routes. My specifications are the following:

CPU: Intel i7-2600k
GFX: nVidia GeForce GTX 590 (2 GPU's)
RAM: 16 GB 1333 DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

I even turned the visual settings down, and it still happened. As I said, I never experienced such major visual issues on any other route. The first two miles were fine, but then it went like this and never turned back fine. I tried only the first scenario, but after seeing such major bugs, I stopped playing Donner Pass for now and didn't even try other scenarios. I'm not pleased with this at all. Are other players experiencing similar issues?

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache?

I'm a woman, I don't do tech stuff. How do you verify the integrity of the game cache? Is there an option in the game directly or do you need to do something with the installation itself for that? *unsure look*

When you have Steam up, right click on Train Simulator 2012, and then click on properties. That will open a new little window. In that window, click on the Local Files tab at the top, and then click the Verify Integrity of the Game Cache. Then wait. :-). This should download what appear to be quite a few missing files for you. Sometimes have to do it twice.

You can see the progress on the main page, but it will take a while.

Women do tech! You apparently do trains! :-)

Hi Jane,
Greetings to Switzerland from a "neighbor" in Germany.

I assume you have Steam set up in German?
To verify the game files of Railworks, open Steam and browse:
Bibliothek -> Alle Spiele -> rightclick "Train Simulator 2012" -> Eigenschaften -> Lokale Dateien -> Lokale Dateien Auf Fehler Überprüfen

If you have it set up in English it's:
Library -> All Games -> rightclick "Train Simulator 2012" -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache

It should take some time to check and then Steam will most likely download some missing files.
After the download has finished, start Railworks/Train Simulator and then browse the tab "Tools&Docs" in the launcher.
Press on the field "Clear Cache".

I hope that this solves your problems. !*salute*!

Oddly enough, I'm not seeing those peculiar "bent" tracks at all! Could the difference be the result of graphics settings?

to Nigel: I get the same difference between in-cab and exterior views, but figured out that the difference is caused by the cab windows rather than by computer graphics settings or and programming error by RSC. In other words, this is deliberate. At first, I thought that the windows are supposed to be dirty, but the bluish, hazy look is too uniform for that, so it must be window tinting, which would be sensible given sun glaring off of snow. Like most RW players, I'm not qualified to comment on "real" conditions; unlike many, I'm opposed to SWAGs, so I'll just stick with my tint theory for now.
