I give up.. Back to being a fake brit.

You're no fake, Bill - you're an honorary Brit now. *!!wink!!*

On the lack of US content, I think RSC have just decided that the market isn't there - the 'other place' has bad-mouthed Railworks for so long that many potential users have been put off buying it.

My railway photos are back - you can access them from this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21667a . Lots of UK steam and early diesels from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I really don't have much problem with that. Between the fine third party modelmakers like Golden Age, Britkits and DTM to name just a few, the talented route and scenario writers here and the folks who come up with mods and enhancements to the sim, all we're really dependent on RSC for is core improvements like dynamic lighting and rain with some substance to it. The US fans will benefit directly from these core improvements even if we're not their perceived main focus, so I can't see much to worry about.

RW2 is still a relative newcomer, and I think its superiority will speak for itself as time goes by.

Surely there is nothing to prevent 3rd party developes doing US content and releasing it much as UK 3rd party developers do. If there really is that much demand there seems a real opportunity for one or more of the talented developers in the US. After all IHH, Mesh Tools, DT etc seem to be doing fine for UK stuff.

If we rely on RS only then they will never keep pace with the understandable demands for US stuff. G-Trax and Michael Stephens (to pick 2 that come to mind) do some wonderful stuff and some of the freeware US stuff is great.

Hi,

I will model most locos I can get sounds and cab ref for, These are the 2 things that stand in my way.
In some ways we have made a rod for our own back. To create the high detailed we need lots of pics showing the details.
Even wih UK traction which we know fairly well I still want cab ref and sounds, I'm afraid this always takes longer to gather.
(I'm still gathering SW1500 cab pics!)

I think we will get to a place were RS.com produce as much US stuff as UK stuff. We may not be there yet but it certainly moving that way.
Oh and by the way, discussions on the forums do little to sway what we make and nothing said has ever put us off.

We have a good plan for the next 6 to 9 months and there is plenty of US traction in there.

best regards

Derek

sounds good to me. i guess those 2 problems of yours are even worse when the locomotive is rare or dosen't exist anymore. did you ever think of contacting EMD or GE for plans of the locomotives? i think this could help but it is up to you. keep those shunters (switchers) comming! i love seeing UK switchers because they are so different from the mainline locos. has anyone noticed that UK switchers somewhat resemble old US Switchers but smaller and on only 1 truck?

Yeah this way they can better steal western technology and then build their own cheaper locos and our workers loose their jobs. *!sad!*
